Recommend me some games for the van!

Enjoy Carcasonne, packs small, but needs a reasonable sized table to play but we get by on a campervan sized table. Lost Cities is good and small. Started getting into Rivals for Catan last winter. Again, needs a reasonable table.

Mapple is good fun, and free :)

We play carcassonne sometimes too. It's pretty easy to learn and can also be quite tactical. Different every time :)

For us the best game is UNO, especially the new type that has card swap and blanks to write your own forfeits. :)
My 9 year old grandson is a master of the game, and it can be so funny.
We played it whilst on holiday in a villa in Portugal, one of the forfeits was that you had to jump in the pool (the pool was not that warm) and another was to provide all players with a drink of their choice.

We bought some colouring books and coloured pencils for the young lad, but they were used by the adults too, quite relaxing.

I knew this would be an interesting thread with lots of suggestions re lost sausages. :rolleyes2:
Phill likes his cards (Phat) but that tends to bore the pants off me. I'd prefer Scrabble but that's definitely not his thing.
We seem to play empty the bottle more than anything.

This thread reminded me to collect the various travel games I have and get them into the Camperbus...

Got:
Card-based version of Monopoly
A different Card-based version of Monopoly!
Card-based version of Cludeo (needs 3+ players so never tried it)
2 packs of standard playing cards
Folding Cribbage board
Travel Scrabble

Also got some Trivia quizs in card pack format but still sealed up (were pressies I suppose?) - these can be good.
I think I also have a travel Trivial Pursuit? (Not sure where I put that or even if I did buy it!)

And finally, what was THE game to have a few years ago but can't recall why.... Exploding Kittens!

Uno has been a family favourite for 4 generations.. Especially the " Tick up Poo "cards. You can also play it with 2 normal packs, using the face cards for the instructors.
You can do the same for Rummy Cub.
Great for vans .

We play hide and seek in the van
Rules :

Share a bottle of wine,or two.
Clear the table away
One puts on a blindfold and counts to 100.. the other/ others, either hides or doesn't .
The blind man then has to find and identify anyone who is caught.
Then share a bottle and start again.
.
Off ground tig/ tag, is good too.

For us it’s Carcasonne also. We have the “big box” version which includes a large number of add ons providing plenty of variation. A tip to save money. Buy the German big box version which is cheaper than the English version and print off the English instructions from the Carcasonne website. Saved us £20. Games last 30 to 45 mins and a perfect 2 player game although up to 6 can play.

Catan, two packs of cards (We play Cribbage, and Canasta mainly), Sequence, Guillotine, Mancala, Yahtzee, Backgammon, dominoes, an old style game similar to Uno, (forgotten the name), and Minecraft card game. We also like Carcasonne, so it will be our next purchase.

Just bought 'pandemic' but not played yet. Lots of good reviews though.

We currently have
All creatures big and small
Jaipur
Jambo
Love letter

And on the iPad
Agricola
Twilight struggle
Pandemic
Stone Age
Ticket to ride

Boardgamegeek.com is an excellent reference site for board games

I'll bring a few along to the Druridge meet and would be interested in some of the more modern games mentioned by others so far. I'll probably bring along games that don't take up too much space & are quick to get the hang of. Interest in board games has really taken off in the last few years & enjoy checking them out on YouTube.
Citadels : counter-bluffing card game
Jaipur : excellent fast card & tokens game - my favourite of this type
Lost Cities : simple but taxing card game for 2
Dixit : interpret strange images on cards
Age of War : dice game
Roll for It : totally simple but fun dice game
Tobago : fun & clever treasure hunting
Hanamikoji : brain-burner card game for 2

I used to play a lot of board games when young but as my siblings (all older) got older they lost interest and not much fun with one :(

One of my favourites as a youngster was "Escape from Colditz" and got given the game again a couple of years ago - but not played it again :(
Anyone do any board-game playing at the meets?

If you enjoy chess then Stratego is a great game, another thumbs up for Mahjong as well.

Yeah i remember playing split the kipper and what did you call it when you spread your fingers then have to stab a knife or compass pint in between them getting quicker until you sub yourself or not? :)
