problem water filler cap

If the water filler is the usual sort, which has three dents round the keyhole, when it's locked it spins freely, so if it's tight, it's not locked.
It is possible to put it on askew, which makes it hard to remove. Just use lots of force.

Didn't know they had bayonet fittings mine have always had screw on and lock
I'd never seen a threaded one and after looking a 2 ebay list pages still haven't but wondered what they had when he mentioned his daughter got a pair of mole grips on it. Only ones I've come across are similar to this like fitting a light bulb

It is me that is wrong it is no more than half a turn bit more of a turn than what i call bayonet but there you go
 
Just looked at mine 3 pin bayonet my mistake push in and turn anti clockwise to remove/open but mine was tight to get off as well at least it came off though
