We are thinking of heading east to North Berwick on Friday night then heading for the CU at prestonpans beach Saturday night.
Has anyone used this CU, any thoughts welcome.

Cheers.

We stayed here last year midweek & had no problems. Quite a nice walk along the coast. Also there is a park & ride car park near by for Edinburgh.

Brilliant sunset

Was there a couple of week ago and there were a few vans parked up. Car parks a bit rough with big puddles but no restrictions.

Thanks everyone.
I was just a bit concerned with it being a Saturday night.
But it does not look like a place for boy racers, well hopefully not.

Stop there fairly often , never seen boy racers .
Was actually going to stop there tonight but quite a few vans so went elsewhere

I live quite near this spot. Usually a few vans daily/nightly but plenty of space. As said handy for Lidl (going tomorrow for the blowtorch sale). The site is never used by boy racers etc - most go to a huge car park at Meadowmill Sports ground which is on the south side of Prestonpans to do drifting. Not doing any harm but don't go there lol Bob

How was your night at the Pans?

Well we enjoyed north Berwick so much, that we decided to leave Prestonpans till another time.

We spent two nights in the lay-bye on Baugh road. We went up north Berwick law, and witnessed a helicopter rescue of a man who had broken his leg. Today we did some shopping and went for a coffee to help the local economy. We really enjoyed north Berwick, but next time we will head for the carpark at the top of the road.

Glad you enjoyed NB. It’s not my cup of tea too busy for me. Prefer to be out in the wilds.

me to but we do enjoy going to places we have never been before as well.
Tiree looks great, we have some walking planned.

But North Berwick took us both by surprise, beautiful beeches, and a lovely town centre full of interesting shops.

If you want quiet there is another place you can wild camp near Dunbar - we stay at the C n C club site quite regularly. If you continue past the entrance to it towards Barns Ness lighthouse there is a big layby which regularly has motorhomes parked up (just prior to the East Lothian Council beach car park which has a height barrier and toilet block). Easy access to the quiet beach (2 minutes). Single lane tarred road with passing places - very rural. No signage about overnight parking. Bob

Many thanks Bob, have spent a night in Dunbar in the leisure centre carpark. But your spot sounds a lot better will try it out some time.

My van can sneak under height barriers so can use all of the East Lothian carparks. Yellow Craig’s is a favourite with a new toilet block with outside shower and I enjoy a walk to NB along the beach.

Yes there was a carpark just before ours on Haugh Road with barriers, and we saw two VW campers parked there.
It looked like it was used by the residents due to parking restrictions on Haugh road, possibly thats why I reckon they put the barriers up.

The Lay bye were we were was busy, but we got in, but as I already stated the carpark at the end of the road was quieter and you had views of Bass Rock.

We normally park in the top carpark if having a fish supper. Last time an old mondeo arrived and parked right next to us and the kid in the back threw the door open right against the side of my van. I got out to vent my anger and got a mouthful of abuse from the mother.

One of my pet hates Is that when a vehicle parks alongside our camper and the person inside slings open their door onto our vehicle. And its not just kids in the back.Ive heard all the excuses like ""oh the wind caught the door"""etc etc etc and dont ever get an apology.A thing to bear in mind when wilding in a carpark...

I assume you still vented your anger Caledonia.
