I use a Wise card with (minimal) sterling and (moderate) Euro funds on it. I never have enough on it to cover fuelling an HGV (I top it up from time to time during a trip), so have been refused at an HGV pump before now, but have always found that when fuelling at a standard self-service pump, by the time I get to my next stop I have two emails from Wise, the first advising of the initial transaction amount (the hold) and the second advising the corrected amount.
