A friend of mine carried a company credit card for those awkward moments when the 'locals' refused to fill up due to non payment of company account. You need a hell of a credit limit to fill a 767.

Money back on the card when I looked this morning so between 24-36 hours, happy days, I can take my tent down now on the Sangat immigrant site.

I use a Wise card with (minimal) sterling and (moderate) Euro funds on it. I never have enough on it to cover fuelling an HGV (I top it up from time to time during a trip), so have been refused at an HGV pump before now, but have always found that when fuelling at a standard self-service pump, by the time I get to my next stop I have two emails from Wise, the first advising of the initial transaction amount (the hold) and the second advising the corrected amount.
