Perfect weekend

Oh and as for a name for our van wait for it ............da... da... daaaaaa...........'Flora' me little explora it was my late grandmothers name and it was her birthday the day we impulsively picked the van up I think she gave us a nudge in the right direction.

I love the name Flora - bet your Grandmother is really pleased for you x

Our last campervan came with a ready made name .......I never even knew that people name there vans, but it such an important part of our life it seems natural for me to refer to it by a name, maybe its more of a girly thing ??? I just find it quite endearing.

Ours is called 'Flo' - Nina says it is for 'Go With the Flow', I reckon it's Andy Capp 'n Flo..............:juggle:

We aren't going anywhere for at least six weeks - Nina has just had one of her bunions sorted, so we now have stiches out and medical visits to make before the all clear.

There was a lovely upside to this - we saw our nesting blue tits help their young fledge this morning - the first time we have ever been home and lucky enough to see - fantastic!:egg::baby:

the downside is that I have managed to strangle the washing machine, choke the hoover, defrost the fridge and axe murder the dishwasher (that's probably for the 'Loner' thread elsewhere on the forum:banana:

ps
Can anyone tell me which way up the iron works please?

ian

Sorry you won't be able to get away for a while but hope Nina's all mended and back on both feet soon. We saw a blackbird family do the same thing a couple of weeks back and we managed to catch this great tit family on camera in June last year. Always amazes me how much bigger the babies are than the parents! :) Hope the photos work... I downsized some copies of the originals to post them...

Lovely photos ...looks like she is giving someone a good telling off :lol-053:

Talking about getting out over the weekend, today was my first and only free day since all this sunshine started! So we went down to the coast and I was wondering if there were any forum members down on the West Sussex coast at Goring or Ferring today? We often pop down there just to walk and have taken the van sometimes but today it was motorhome heaven! :) There were lots of surfers there for a rally or competition or something and dozens of unrelated vans besides... never seen it so busy, even for a weekend! We checked all the van windows very carefully but didn't spot any Wildcamping stickers... people just thought we were being particularly nosy :lol-053:

herbenny1, can I call you herbie for short? I was going to put HB1 but that makes you sound like a pencil :lol-049: (Yes I know I know your real name but not everyone likes to use them out in the open!) Anyhoo, I used to name all our cars back in the day. When we lived in America for 3 years, I had a HUGE 8-seater Chevvy Caprice station wagon that we called Godzilla because it was very big and very green! Naturally, that meant that Martin's much smaller Chevvy Cavalier had to be Godzuki :lol-053: My first ever car was a great old Triumph Herald called Harold... no, not very imaginative! We once briefly had an ancient German Ford Taunus estate car that was almost 20 years old and dark blue on the top, dull gun metal grey on the bottom... quite a conversation starter. It was big and heavy and almost looked armour-plated so we called it The Tank :) Nothing else has had the personality for a name but I'd like to be inspired to come up with one for the van one day...

I know! For some bizarre reason, it makes me think of Les Dawson dressed up as the woman character he used to do, with the curlers. Ummm, on second thoughts you're probably too young to remember Les Dawson

:lol-053: yeah, them talking over the fence pushing their boobs up and gossiping! :lol-053:

Oh lucky you getting out to the coast I bet it was jam packed today though. The weather has been so glorious hasnt it ??? ......I am itching to get out and next weekend come rain or shine we are off. Oh and herbie is just fine lol. I love going to wittering and right along that coast but we have yet to wildcamp around that area. Perhaps we could throw names in the bag as way of suggestions for your van when we do our meet, but you will know when you know :))

I'm snug & comfy in bed in the tranny, next to a big barn in a farm compound in a big field in deepest East Lancashire. I've got to be up in 6 hours but am buzzing from caffeine overdose so I'm just enjoying the moment - total silence except for the dog snoring, a lovely clear starry sky, & the promise of a lovely day ahead :)
Did you take any pics?
