Pembrokeshire: fines for wild camping

We were in Pembrokeshire a couple of weeks ago and little council vans were still everywhere We stopped at a NT car park at 8pm and within 5 mins had our reg photographed and a warning issued. We had only been there 5 mins
I thought NT property to be outside the council's jurisdiction. If there were no signs forbidding motorhomes, camping or parking at the time you were there, the council's warning shouldn't be worth tuppence. I think I would have taken the council guy's name and reg number and advised him that I was exhausted, needed to rest before moving on and hence he was requiring me to drive while unfit to do so in contravention of Highway Code rule 91. I would have asked him to sign a notice to that effect so that he was clear he was in the frame in the event of an incident.

How many motorhome dealers and manufacturers are based in wales, and how much money do they pay in taxes, how many do they employ. It really sickens me when I read threads like this. Yet again we are the route of all that’s wrong in these places, deal with us and the rest will take care of itself.

I am /was about to leave for the Gower tomorrow morning and now I might not bother at all going there, I do not know where sites are and if it is true about prebooking and the lack of space I will not be passing over a load of money to do it. So who loses out?

Also no enjoyment going to places where.
1 limited opportunities for overnighting (including campsites)
2 fretting over avoiding parking fines etc

Many camper dealers here own most of the campsites up around the Ballycastle Portrush Portstewart north coast. ;)

We live close enough to visit the Gower for a day trip and would advise not to go in peak season. Even in 'normal ' times it's rammed and there's no opportunity for wilding. Wait for autumn, winter or spring and try the north side - Whiteford Sands and the adjacent salt marshes - which is one of our favourite areas.
