North West Hosepipe Ban

:rolleyes2: Did you read the linked page?

Cheers

H

I don't get your comment.! Are you saying otherwise?
[h=2]Can I fill the water tanks on my motor home with my hosepipe?[/h]No. The ban includes filling a container by means of a hosepipe with water supplied by the company.

So filling my washer bottle by watering can is fine, but use a hosepipe and its a £1k fine.No wonder this country is disappearing up its own rectum

Don't use a hosepipe for the colonic irrigation.

Can I use a hosepipe to transport rain water from a water butt?

Yes. If your hosepipe is connected to something other than the mains supply,

such as a water butt or a private supply, i.e. a borehole, then you can still use it.

Nope the reason "this country is disappearing up its own rectum" is that at times of seriously short water supplies in some areas,
is that, SOME folks cannot be relied on to use a bit of common sense and social conscience to stop wasting water watering their grass and washing their cars etc so thus need a big stick to gently guide them in the right direction .

Big deal we cant use a hose pipe for a few weeks until its back to the usual state of pissing downess again ...least we can turn the tap and get clean safe water out of it ...unlike large tracts of the world Ehh ???

We are also in one of the wettest parts of the UK,yet other utility companies are clearly managing.

I'm not at all bothered about not using a hosepipe, the point was,one method will incur a fine and the other wont, but will still use the same amount of water.Spare me the large tracts of the world, they dont get as much rainfall as us...Ehh????

That's the reason. Being in an area of reliably high rainfall, UU has not wasted your money on services designed to cope with droughts that almost never happen.

Though considering that we are all supposed to be seeing increased temperatures in the future, perhaps it wouldn't be such a waste

Nope they don't.....
But we also waste water hand over fist....
Our local Derbyshire reservoirs are low....
Some of the North mid Wales ones are almost empty,

My point is some folks really don't give a damn about reducing their water useage, even when we haven't had significant rain for some time now...
So whilst 'some' of us wouldn't think about wasting water hosing the lawn down or hosing the car off...
'some' folks give so little of a toss that unless they think they stand a chance, of getting fined for it...
They will carry on regardless.

Not difficult is it really....

I know they dont,It was merely an observation that one delivery method would result in prosecution and one wouldn't.These same selfish people wont adhere to the ban anyway.
A report recently put the loss at 20% before it reaches a single house.

Not difficult is it really...

Just a light hearted comment ,wish i hadn't bothered

Sort of feeling the same.....
I never use a hosepipe anyway.... Bit overkill for 2 x 5 litre containers.

Just maybe the "Big Stick" should have been used years ago on the water companies to sort out the leak problem then there wouldn't be this problem.
