My Calor 6kg backup ran out this morning so I swapped back to the Gaslow which I reckon has two to three days supply left in it. I'll then pop the 6kg on the bike, go down the Haven site at Thornwick bay (Flamborough east Yorkshire coast) and swap it for a full one thinks I. No chance. They have no gas at all and every single Calor supplier in the local area has no 6kg Calor. According to the woman at Haven Calor is having problems getting staff to fill the bottles and get them out.

Going home Wednesday so hopefully the Gaslow will last until then.

Heads up if your a Calor user. No idea if it's a local problem or national.

Used to have autogas at the esso station at Driffield ...

Yep I think its still there and one over at Scarborough. Both a 40+ mile round trip which ill do if I have to. Usually I just rely on the Calor backup when LPG stations are scarce as normally its dead easy to change as everyone sells them. Not right now though.

I thought ahead and purchased several bottles before the mad rush 13kg that is, were they not phasing out the smaller bottles?

According to the Calor site the 6kg Calor lite has been discontinued not the standard 6kg propane. I might just get a 13kg in the locker alongside the Gaslow which to be honest would be better but they are quite a hefty bottle. 6kg is easier to strap on the back of the bike and does fit in the locker. Anyway I think it's just a shortage of calor full stop here. The haven site had no bottles whatsoever.

Any agricultural shops around? Farmers use lots of Calor Gas. That is where I get bottles from generally.

Theres one supplier one chap told me about who he thinks has them but he's shut until Monday. It's no biggy really. I mainly posted it as a heads up in case anyone was heading this way or it's more widespread.

This has been a big topic on the Autosleeper owners forum as many of this marque are panel vans etc which have lockers for smaller bottles but not capable of accommodating bigger sizes.
I believe there was a shortage of small bottles even before the Calor announcement which has lead to further shortages since people have tried to build a reserve.
Flogas continue to do a full range, so you may find it an option although a new regulator may be required as I understand it and their bottles have some variation in heights.
A small refillable from Gasit or gaslow is an option, but a bit more expensive in outlay for what is, in effect, a reserve bottle.

Pay particular attention to this post in the (January) thread regarding 6kg bottles:-

So the plot thickens. It might not be a PIA for leg two of this trip as we will be touring through Wales and Devon. I presume they have autogas stations in Wales?

Ye
Cheers. Do I assume the ones with the crosses on are defunct? I think I'm going to explore getting a 13kg to replace the 6kg as backup. Might see if I can find one on the way home and see if it will fit.
Yes cross denotes unavailability (temp/permanent)

We found topping up whenever we passed somewhere with bulk LPG best policy when in Wales/Scotland ...

Less critical for us since ditching the gas fridge and gas heater (replaced with 240v fridge/inverter and Eberspacher )
