No Gas!

FWIW, the 6kg Calorlite we had in use ran out when we were in Scotland a couple of weeks ago. No problem, thought I as we were at the CCC Moffat site. Connected the regulator to the spare 'lite' and took to empty to reception to buy a refill only to be told that the CCC no longer sell Calor cylinders -- either that or 'Head Office' had told the site managers to stop selling them because the club were going to do that 'direct'! So then ensued a series of thirty to forty phone calls over several days to stockists listed on the Calor website. At least half a dozen said they no longer do Calor and had switched (e.g. to Flo) while the remainder either had no stock or wouldn't exchange my lite for a standard 6kg :( Eventually found someone on an industrial estate who took my word for it that Calor allowed lites to be exchanged for standard 6kg and £30 lighter, I again have a spare!

You might have been better off Googling Calor near me, Usually, there is one not too far away, I do that and ring to confirm and hold one for me if they have stock.

FWIW, I did! Google gave me the Calor website (https://www.calor.co.uk/gas-bottles/retailers?view=map&dealerType=Cylinder) 'search by map' facility that I used to contact an ever-expanding circle of suppliers. I faced the double whammy of the previously reliable CCC sites no longer selling Calor and all the small retailers refusing to accept a Calorlite cylinder in exchange for a standard 6kg. The guy who sold me his last standard 6kg took my word for it when I offered to show him Calor's news item that said the swap was allowed...

I've tried the Calor website in the past and have not found it that good hence a quick Google and ring the dealer, you need to ring them anyway as some are closed, out of stock etc.

For refillable I use fillpg but again you have to ring them first.

Bigger batteries, enormous solar array, victron orion, plus a bit of lpg.
That should keep you out of trouble.
Struggle if you want to. But remember, there are no pockets in a shroud.😬😬🙄
OK if you have the money in the first place. It's like telling someone with enough income to be able to buy a second hand car, buy a new one, it will last longer. We don't all have your overflowing pots of money!

My over flowing pots of money is an exaggeration.
