Welsh Water are opening a site at one of their reservoirs in Pembrokeshire - https://llys-y-fran.co.uk/camping-west-wales/. It's a decent enough place for a walk or cycle but nothing really special. Now, hold your breath, check the link, scroll down and get an eyeful of their prices. The basic fee is bad enough but one that really gets me is £15 for an awning and it will only be open for 3 months/year.

Let’s not beat about the bush here.
Someone should take photos of the idiots who pay these fees and post them online, they must be joking.
2 adults, 1 child, a dog, with an awning, hard standing with EHU wait for it

£66 a night

Just think you can hire a Motorhome for less.
You can easily get a hotel with breakfast for less.
I hope these greedy bar stewards will struggle to get punters.
Just think a week there will cost £462 what a bargain. :)

Activities And Facilities

Adventure playground

Mountain bike trails and pump track

On-site café

Visitor Centre with reception open 7 days a week

On-site shop

Free wi-fi in the visitor centre

Land and water activities (extra charges apply)

You are paying for a lifestyle and facilities that need to be staffed so if that sort of thing floats your boat, then it may be considered reasonable value.

There are all singing all dancing family sites in French hotspots during high season where the daily fees are even higher.

As a couple who do not want these facilities then yes the prices are not going to encourage us to stop there!

Is it £15 to buy an awning, or is that the fee to erect it?

The cafe will make money, the visitor centre will double up as reception, the onsite shop will probably be in the same building, and will make money, free wifi at visitor centre, costs virtually nothing to supply, and note the land and water activities extra charges apply.
As for the the adventure playground most campsites have something similar, and the mountain bike trails will be available to the public.

£45 for up to 4 people is only £11.25pppn. For a couple, or single traveller, the price is pushing beyond the limit, and the £15 fee for the awning takes it over the edge

We thought about taking a month or so travelling around the UK using a mix of wilding, pub stops, CLs and sites. Even a lot of the CLs are expensive now. We are going to Europe instead.
Yup ! But the 90 day thingie is a pain
