Murray don't look if you don't want to know

First Brit in 74 years to get to the finals!:banana::banana:
Go Andy! Can't wait until Sunday!!

I've not seen any evidence whatsoever of Andy Murray behaving like a 'spoilt kid' in this year's Wimbledon. In fact he seems to have matured a lot since his early days. He's not exactly a bundle of fun and is rather serious but that's his character and being serious and earnest isn't a crime! Just for once can't we celebrate his incredible hard work in reaching this peak in his career?

I'm not sure if he's got what it takes to beat Federer, who is ranked one better than he is and has much more experience but I shall be rooting for him as will most of the U.K.

Good for you Andy, the first Briton to reach the finals in 74 years. Even if you lose that's an achievement in itself!

hes british until he looses

then he becomes scottish

and they say theres no race definitions in the uk

aye right................. hope all u britsh types can handle the flooding

if not dont blame us scots

Now why should we blame the Scots for the floods? what makes you say that?

Not a fan of Tennis but we'll be routing for him. or rutting for him see what mood I'm in.

No good luck son.

I'm with Roger F for this. I like his game because he can play all the shots and has a superb one handed backhand which he can hit topspin down the line or crosscourt and he can play slice anywhere similarly.

I don't support "nationalities" in this individual sport, as the top players are all multi millionaires who play largely for themselves. If it comes to a choice of Davis Cup or a big tournament, they go for the career option, Murray included. So whether Murray is Scottish, British, or Lithuanian doesn't matter to me, I prefer Roger as a player.

Typical British attitude,...and yes I disagree

He might as well have lost first round if he loses the final both count as a loss and most people don't remember losers.

Next thing people will be spouting taking part is what matters.

I personally think there are better players, and perhaps this is his moment.

On the British thing, the lad is a Scot for whom I quite like, however his anti English slips...induce a feeling within I hope he loses, and hopefully by a country mile

Little bit chippy today are we ?

I am not aware that the Scots get more than their fair share of the blame for things.

however claiming a Nationality for the winner is nothing new as Einstein pointed out a few years ago.

In 1921, Albert Einstein presented a paper on his then-infant [ not yet fully proven ] theory of Relativity at the Sorbonne, the prestigious French university.

"If I am proved correct," he said, "the Germans will call me a German, the Swiss will call me a Swiss citizen, and the French will call me a great scientist”.

However if relativity is proved wrong, “the French will call me a Swiss, the Swiss will call me a German, and the Germans will call me a Jew."

"plus ça change" as they say in Swahili.

Dezi :pc:

Typical anti-British attitude! So to be second best in the world isn't an achievement? What is that that makes some people so hateful that they can say things like this: "I hope he loses, and hopefully by a country mile." And yes, taking part is also important, that people have strived and trained is important, that people lose with dignity is important.

And why, in a thread about Andy Murray, can't you simply give your views on Andy Murray? Why do you feel the need to attack me and my views? I thought that Phil had warned everyone about this kind of baiting and unpleasant behaviour?

I don't watch tennis as a rule but i was watching the Woman in black, nearly pood my pants so i turned it off and the last game was on and i felt the tension in the crowd so i decided to watch it, and congratulate Andy, i didn't think for one minute i would get accused of been a racist (ST) and Channa, i'm surprised at you, really i am, it is a view and we are supposed to be calming things down on here, even Northerner is behaving himself, so you need too.

If he wins I wonder if Rhyming slang for a curry will change to an "Andy" rather than a "Ruby"?

Doesn't have the same ring to it really does it?:D

I really do wish him every success and I think it's very sad that there are some who actually want him, not just to lose, but to be trounced. Why? Whichever one wins I will be sad for the loser.

As for slang, I do hope that Andy doesn't get well and truly rogered.

And wasn't it a joy yesterday to see Johnny Marray admit to touching the net cord. The umpire or linesmen didn't see it but he knew it was an infringement and he immediately brought it to the attention of the ref. It may well have cost them the set but honesty prevailed. Good for him! A real example of the best of British sportsmanship.

I find it odd that people get excited by the fact that someone happened, by sheer accident, to be born in the same country as them. Murray's skills (and those of any other sportsman) have nothing to do with his Britishness (on top of which he honed them, I believe, in Spain and now has a Czech coach) so why should I feel compelled to support him? (and if Alex Salmond gets his way, will we English still feel the same about this now-foreigner?) I'm neither supporting him or decrying him - I just find the passion either way strange.

Yeah pro tennis has nothing to do with nationality, they just represent themselves.

Well done to Roger. When he is at the top of his game, Murray has no answer. I guess that is why Roger has won wimbledon 8 times.

well england didnt win graNd prix, tennis, but we do have the leader of the T,D,F TO CELBRATE

You sound like Murray!!! ;)

Vernon you bad boy .
Nooooooo
He has only won 7 wimbledon titles !
Played in 8 finals though !

Yes I remebered he lost to Nadal once when I was driving back down the M4. Thought someone would call me on that!

Still, 7-0 to Roger v Murray is not a bad record.

Murray may still have his day, but he'd better hurry up, there is a crop of hard hitting young players coming through.
