Hi. Just for information we have a Trigano Tribute on a Ford Transit base. We have just received a recall notice on all post 2006 Transit vehicles. There is a problem with the oil pump and they are being replaced by a new improved one.
The vehicles are

Transit 2006 onwards
Transit Custom 2.2l

Hope this is useful to anyone with a Ford Transit who has not had the recall.

Jean and Robert

After reading your post I had a look at mine on 'ford etis site'
No outstanding actions it said 😐 2009 2.2 transit based motorhome 🇩🇪

Peugeot tell me that my 2014 registered Auto Sleeper Broadway with Ford Transit engine does not have a recall. Would you please PM me with the letter.

Thank You.
John.

I have to learn how to use this etis. Seems like a good source of information. I read in the ADAC magazine a while ago that there is indeed a problem with Transit engines going up in smoke and ford denying it. But as far as i understood it was injector problem.

Hi
I have tried to PM Those who asked for a copy of the letter but I have not been able to attach the letter successfully.
I therefore have attached it here in the hope that all who asked for a copy will get it.
I have asked Admin for instruction on attachments in PMs so I should be more knowledgeable in the future.
Regards
Jean

Thanks, Jean, sounds as tho' ours should be included. I will check in with our local garage.

Thank you Jean, I've forwarded the letter to Peugeot as our van is fitted with the Ford engine.

John.

My friend has a 2013 Transit with a 2.2 Duratorq Puma engine and it had its oil pump changed as a recall. I phoned as mine is a 2010 2.2 Duratorq Puma and I was told that my van did not need it changed.

It is very confusing...

I too looked on the Ford site. Interestingly it did not recognise my reg but did recognise the VIN. It confirms I have a 2.2L TDCi Duratorq 140PS Puma engine as per your letter with a build date of Feb 2008, in Turkey.

It stated that there were no Outstanding field actions.

Could they just be notifying owners in stages so dealers do not get overrun or are there just specific engines with the possible issue ?

Paul

I am not sure if this is true, but I do know that our local dealer was expecting rather a lot of transits in for the recall. Maybe worth showing the letter to your local dealer.

I have asked about this oil pump recall on the ford transit forum and they recon that it only affects later euro 5 transits.

it is only the euro 5 engine from about 62 plate onwards, euro 4 engines are not applicable

Tribute 11, what year is your vehicle?

Our Trigano Tribute is on a Ford Transit 2013.
The letter says though that it is vehicles from 2006.

Hi Robert, my van is a 2011 2.2L TDCi (115PS) - Puma.
I checked on the Ford Etis website and i tsays "Outstanding Field Service Actions
No Campaign Message(s) found" do you think I'll be ok ? Or should I try to contact another party ?

Have read through a few german forums and it seems that there are indeed a few Transits with engines blown up. There is even a forum just about this.
From what i gathered:
Transit from 2006 to 2008 (as mine is ,Thanks) with 2.2 130 and 140bhp can have engines blown up caused by cracking pistons. It's not really clear what the reason is because Ford doesn't acknowledge nor helps. There was a report in the ADAC magazine about it where Ford plays it down to low quality Diesel filled up abroad. Another culprit supposed to be are the injectors blamed to get crusted nozzles with deteriorated spray pattern causing hotspots and damaging the piston.
I believe what a few people concluded who had engines repaired by independent sources. Looks like the piston crowns are too thin and can't cope with the load, especially in Motorhomes carrying the full payload. (Load= 1500rpm in 5th gear going up a hill with full throttle!)

The newer engines 2011 onwards have the oilpump problem "only".

It would do no harm to contact a Ford dealer
