Motorhomes on Ford Transit base 2006 onwards

My works 2012 transit is on it's second engine. First seized due to a failed oil pump, new engine under warranty. Second engine timing chain problem, replaced engine out of warranty as it was a known problem.

It would do no harm to contact a Ford dealer
Jean

Will do Jean as soon as I can. It's disturbing when you hear these things but like all motors they have their own problems. Hopefully it's a rare event as most van engines get worked by companies and prob not serviced or driven as carefully as motor homes. It does say in your letter high mileage so will keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks, Clive.

On the german forum there is a list of 170 motorhomes with blown wngines. Some with 30k kms on them.

Please don't tell me that, mines just gone over the 30,000 mile mark. Hope they're not all Fords, but if they were at least it would be easier to get them to fork out for it.
Makes you wonder how many of them had continued to drive if the oil pressure warning light had come on with the words "oh it just needs some more oil" as that's what a lot of people assume the warning light is for.

My works van was just under two year old with 50,000 miles, serviced at the dealer with the correct spec oil. Oil pump failure was to blame.

I am sorry but these are ALL Ford. This forum tries to get all people together to apply pressure on Ford to resolve it. But most are not oil pump failures, it's cracked pistons in the 2006-2008 2.2 engines.
I am in the same boat, 2007 engine with 21k miles.

But i have had the ECU software flashed because of the stalling problem. It was so bloody difficult to drive, i stalled at least twice per trip.
You can now drive off in 2nd gear without touching the throttle and the engine runs a lot smoother but lost a little bit of responsivness in lower revs. From what i gathered this is down to reduced rail pressure to reduce stress at lower revs.

But it's all speculation because there is no statement from Ford.
