MOTORHOME INSURANCE FOR THE AGED

So I've paid comfort £436 full comp in europe with breakdown cover .max trip length of 270 days.
All quotes I got for less only had trip lengths of 30 days and others dropped the full comp in europe to 3rd party cover. With a £3k limit on each claim. Comfort gave £5k.
Though passing 70 it has gone up but not that drastic for the cover given

I insure my self built van with Scenic Motorhome Insurance from whom only today I received the renewal notice for the coming year and I was very relieved to see that the premium has ony gone up very slightly for the coming year, from £156.43 to a new premium of £164.73, so for a 74 year old that isn't at all bad.
That's a bloody good price, so I clinked the highlighted word "insurance" assuming it would take me to https://www.scenicinsurance.co.uk/ but it took me to AIB which is very odd.

I'll be giving Scenic a call.

I think it must be something Admin has set up, see the linked URL bottom left of picture below, I hovered over insurance in #42 seems it does it on every instance of the word insurance so twice in this post.

Then if that is the case, shouldn't someone have a rather loud whisper in Phil's ear as surely if what you are saying is true that is denying members the freedom to search freely? Oh and you know him possibly better than I do Kev?

However at least the full website link appears to work.

No its just a quirk of the site and its his site, he has to make a living if we want a forum.

Certain key words now seem to highlight and link to websites, which I suppose are paid links, but it looks like entering the web address for any other will take you to the correct one.

Did not know about scenic . the link went to aib.
Wish I'd have looked further I would have found out more.
I already had a call from aib.
Scenic are part of Atlantic group.
Bugger, I suppose there's next year

There are so many variables when Insuring a Vehicle ie your age, value of the vehicle, any modifications, audio equipment, televisions, personal items cover, mileage your post code , years no claims, protected no claims, cover against uninsured drivers, jdo you commute in the vehicle or use it for business, where you park it overnight, how much excess you pay on claims, windscreen cover, curticy car if van is off road, legal cover, mileage driven, any points you may have on your licence, extra drivers, breakdown cover etc etc is it any wonder it is a minefield

Aib yesterday qt renewal up £30, still not bad at £360 all in with b down out of country and screen cover.

Just doing mine.

I'm trying to find those with a defaqto 5 star rating

Scenic and Lexham do not have a Dfaqto rating, AIB doesn't have one either

Lexham our current insurer £357.44

AIB best quote was £392 which included EU cover which I didn't want.

I think I might go with Performance Direct the cheapest.

Scenic are not too bad

My quotes via Asda are much better, the two cheapest have good trustpilot feedback not that we trust those after a certain member's issues with them.
Note Scenic at the bottom is significantly cheaper than above.

My Dad is 80, and his insurance, despite being an ambulance driver for 50 years, is £1900. My Dad has never had an accident or conviction, and he has an advanced licence, and he still has his C1 as he drives ambulances over 3.5t (on a different policy). His car is worth maybe £2000 and it is garaged when not being driven. This price is because 80-year-old drivers are like teen drivers; they are more likely to have an accident.
Aged 82 soon to be 83, after a few days searching the market got a premium of a bit over £800 for myself and daughter - an ex coach driver - with SAGA on a 3 year fix. I don’t know what may happen at the end of the fix Though!

Had to sort out insurance for one of the cars today, it appears the insurance companies are extracting the urine at the moment. If price went up by inflation, or thereabouts, I could understand, but Churchill wanted to increase from £170 to £270, nearly 60% higher! I told them to get it under £200 or I was taking my custom elsewhere, and guess what, they applied a 'loyalty bonus' and got it down!

Finally did our van ins urance this morning, £238.44 with LV 6000 mile cover me only driving.

No here too, it went down a good bit last year due to Gov regs, and was expecting a big jump as I'm 73 on Friday but nowt to worry about yet.

I had to pay a small premium on top to adjust policy when I realised it wasn't insured when parked outside the house only when it was parked in storage
