MOTORHOME INSURANCE FOR THE AGED

Mine was actually a bit cheaper this year Baz, not sure if that was influenced my down plating to 3.5t though

My Dad is 80, and his insurance, despite being an ambulance driver for 50 years, is £1900. My Dad has never had an accident or conviction, and he has an advanced licence, and he still has his C1 as he drives ambulances over 3.5t (on a different policy). His car is worth maybe £2000 and it is garaged when not being driven. This price is because 80-year-old drivers are like teen drivers; they are more likely to have an accident.

We paid £610 last year for theMurvi with safeguard.
Its value is about £35,000 and it includes Continental breakdown cover.

Dezi

F-I-L is 83, has a FY3 postcode and his motorhome insurance with Saga is just over £400 a year with him and me as a named driver on it.

I am with Saga, my insurance was £10 dearer than last year but last year it was £20 cheaper than the year before, no changes to the policy so I cannot understand why

Think I'm round about that .
Only 2 companies will insure me because I park on street at home
Used to argue with them about that as , obviously , I park on streets when travelling.
Then my van got stolen , parked on street at home

As for SAGA, I don't know if they will do it on Motorhome insurance but my car is on a fixed price 3 year policy with them, so there is no haggling every year about the premium, I negotiated a very good annual premium deal with them and then they offered the 3 year fixed price covering the next 3 years!

One thing that really rattles me is when insurance companies add large annual increases and then you haggle and the barstuards then reduce their prices!!

I ask for a loyalty discount and if I don't get it I move.

I usually get our quotes of the Asda comparison site, much less hassle than some other and go for the best defacto 5 quote usually

I've heard that insurance companies in the uk have to treat all customers the same, discounts have to be on par .
So a new customer gets the same quote as an existing one if the same area and same no claims. There is no more extra discount for new customers...
A level playing field at last if this is true.. anyone else heard this or was it a weird dream o_O
Mine went up about £20 when turning 70 .

That's the way it's supposed to be now, ibsuspect they just pit prices up as normal, last years prices went down probably go back up this year.

Just got my 'renewal invitation' from Saga, last year it was £356.93, this year £486.40!

my motorhome was covered with saga had the 3 year gaurentee after my broken headlight claim last year policy went from £370 to £610 after a bit of moaning & groaning by me they were able to drop the gaurentee element and insure me for £510 go figure i did drop the mileage from 10000 to 8000 as well but think most ins is think of a number etc
