My colleague got a dull one when a car pulled out in front of him on the A9. He was heli-vac to Ninewells Dundee. He nearly lost his nads while sailing over bike handlebars, with bike snapped in two. He recently returned to work and is slowly on the mend.

Car driver completely at fault.

Even more recent, another colleague had his bike written off by a newly pass car driver (4 days) Musselburgh High St, bike stopped at Toucan Crossing, young lad way above 20mph max limit, not paying attention, bang, another hospital job.

I gave up my bike 25+ year ago, too many near misses, with ever increasing busy roads.

Better sticking to an off road bike.

That's the thing though Trev - They are not looking!
Rob, my colleague who got heli-vac'd to hospital, and he was part of a group on a weekend jolly, others who hung around and heard driver excuse to police, driver licence was immediately revoked, as he was basically not looking.

Happens all the time Terry.

Not just people though, I've had near misses with Pigeons and Pheasants. We have a lot of Muntjac Deer in our area, I really wouldn't fancy hitting one of them at any speed.

My mate who works in NHS A&E calls us* bikers "donors"
K
* haven't actually got a bike at the moment :(
my good lady missis is a senior sister in A&E
they often refer to us as "organ donors"
(mind you.. they wouldn't want my lungs as I have been smoking for over 40 years.. or my liver either as I like a drink like a fish.. :ROFLMAO: my eyesight is crap too.. so no chance of any corneas .. in fact I cant think of any part of my body that would be useful..
on second thoughts.. there is one appendage that still works.. :ROFLMAO:

Must admit the amount of traffic in the south west is spoiling this trip away a bit for me. I think in two years of Covid in the Dales and trips in the motorhome to the Yorkshire coast, Scottish isles and The Lakes I forgot how busy it can get down here. Cant relax on the bike really. Traffic is literally everywhere. Hitting the Dorset coast tomorrow so fingers crossed its a bit quieter.

It’s the same everywhere. My son was up at Gairloch on Saturday and Sands Campsite was full got turned away with his tent.
