met the most rudest man today, also thanks to BPE

Yes it is but don't fall into the same trap that I did:eek:
It just is not worth it:idea-007:
Be better:angel:
Let it die!

Your right, god damn it, lol, you always were, hope you continue to post like you used to, you used to make me laugh, you and Mandrake, not heard from him for a while, do you know how he is?, i love his posts, such a wise man, talking of which, are you going to the Ribbleshead meet?

Jen

Havn't heard from Mandrake for a few months. He moved to south Wales.
Don't do meets anymore, thanks anyway

Agh, ok, well i look forward to reading some of your knowledgable and interesting posts (hopefully)

Difficult to be sure but the explanation I've seen that makes most sense is that it is a 17th century prayer of thieves - Hull had a notorious jail, Halifax was where they were hanged on the gibbet and Hell - well, that speaks for itself! Could just be because of the colour of the telephone boxes though!

Deffo 17c. Yep Hull had a notorious jail and was particularly unfriendly to beggars, Halifax had (and still has a replica of) the Gibbet which consisted of an axe blade in vertical runners, M. Guillotine was so impressed that he created his own version. Hell, I believe is somewhere south of Watford.
I made that last bit up.

*sound of penny dropping*
Oh Yeah...'Halifax bank' not 'the bank in Halifax'. This comes of being close enough to Halifax to spit on it. We don't bank with 'the Halifax' but we do bank 'in Halifax'. I'll get my coat...

Hi Jen,

We are both well, thanks! Had a wildcamp at Widemouth Bay last weekend, and really enjoyed watching the waves rolling in. ( Widemouth Bay 17 Nov 11 - YouTube - Derek is smiling, for once, maybe because he isn't reading the threads on here??) Grumpy2 was there as well, and for a time we had a friend of his as well, must have looked like a gather!!)

Am I reading it wrong or have some people taken it that your 'orrible experience was in HALIFAX, rather than the Halifax BANK??

While I was reading one of the more argumentative threads, I noticed a guest was reading it too - what must he/she think of us?? You used to see threads saying how friendly and helpful the site was; hope it gets back that way asap!!

Mary x x

Awwwwww, glad your all ok, yep, some think it is in Halifax, but av not sed owt, one of the culprits has really made a HUGE hypocrytical comment, its funny, they not as clever as they like to write Mary, anyway, its over now, all quite on the western front, until some poor unsuspecting newbie comes along, ooooo shudder the thought lol

I had been wondering about Mandrake too, always liked his posts. Glad to see one or two of the long-time members like yourself coming back.

Yes Mandrake went full timing for a year or so , so certainly has something to offer in terms of his experiences.

***** I notice is 4 posts shy of 8000 posts.

First time around on this site ***** commented on this and that , never with malice, But a person who was fully immersed in his recreation.

And if he was guilty of anything wanted to share his experiences.

The keyboard warriors at the time in my opinion bullied and induced his current reticence.

There seems to be spats going on in some of the posts and I have bitten my toungue, Hopefully an issue with your van ....gas particularly, I can help and guess what ??? no bill ...

Isnt helping out and sharing what we are about ?

Channa

Thanks Channa, you got it about right, but it could never be the same again, spoilt for ever for me. I do post now and again and yesterday unusually quite a bit. But never mind as they did me a favour as I now have more important things to occupy my time and much more rewarding. At the time, I was new to forums, a forum virgin and what a learning curve that was. It's just a shame that some of these sad people jerk themselves off on such antics.
Regarding mandrake, the last that I heard was that he had sold his vam and had moved into a flat.
If mandrake reads this, I wish you & Mrs mandrake well.

To use your term he trampêd the dream for 12 months or so and has retreated back to bricks and mortar has a base, Which I suspect drives him mad having had the freedom of where I lay my hat is my home.

I have nothing to back that assumption up other than that is how I feel when I become tied to an area through work etc.

Full timing does require a degree of fortitude and is not all plain sailing.

Three years ago, if I had dropped dead on the way to my reserved cloud I would have felt hard done by having worked hard all my life and not experienced very much beyond a working life.

If I dropped dead last night , I say last night because that cant happen , I have seen things experienced things which frankly I cherish.

Parked up in Arrete , a knock at the door a Frenchman with a steaming bowl in his hand ...........For you not the dog he said, .........It was a bowl of home made Cassoulet. For whatever reason he and his wife observed I was alone and provided a most genuine gesture. The fact I can cook is not the point, The positive side of humanity shone through that day in my world.

If I were a rich man, no travel agent could book me that experience.

And for me that is what Motorhoming is about , Never know who you will meet , who you can help , they help you .

C`est la Vie .(this is the life)

On a sort of serious note I find it interesting how we mock each other .....I often think like siblings ................and yet when the Chips are down we pull together ...hence we havent been invaded since 1066 .

Mockery aside, we should be proud to be British.

In my case English
