LPG stations

I passed a local Shell station today, Autogas @ 129.9ppl

Install oil showing same @ 89 pppl, but that was a price date August. What the heck is going on, prices are rocketing!!
I suspect that they think they can get away with it and make it more viable to keep it on their forecourts Terry, so they are hiking it up, and with Calor at around £32 for 6kg 12L @ 129.9 = £15.48 they can and we just have to pay.

It looks to me like they are price matching Morrisons. Pity Aldi don’t do lpg huh
Neil, my last recent top up was at Install Oil, and from memory approx 90 ppl. I was shocked to see the price at local Shell station, and from your post, Morrisons must be a similar price?

I don’t know any Morrison Edinburgh stores that sell fuel do lpg.

Morrisons used to do a £4.99 AA map with all their stores, and petrol stations Inc LPG, that was around 2008 very handy for the van we only binned ours a couple of years ago

Just filled up at ‘FLOGAS’ Stourport at 75 pence a litre . image.jpg

Looks like £1.29 is the norm for Morrisons round sheffield , better than no lpg , my nearest station has removed lpg pumps ,

I emailed them a while ago about the price of LPG and they said it's what the suppliers charge, which I sad was rubbish with their buying power so I just think it's their way of getting rid of the pumps.

I don’t think Morrisons have much buying power in the LPG market. Less than 1% of vehicles use LPG and the amounts sold at the pumps is minuscule compared to industrial and domestic use. If they don’t make money out of sales they will stop selling it like so many others. I would rather they continued to have LPG pumps at £1.30 than pull out altogether.

Morrisons sold the petrol stations to MFG who have far more buying power than the single none franchised LPG sellers who seem to be able to sell at around £0.80p

MFG have no buying power in the LPG market having pulled out. Some non franchised sellers may have greater buying power and much bigger sales because they are also supplying propane to domestic and industrial customers. Others may have advantageous existing supply contracts or large numbers of regular taxi customers, who knows. What I do know is that my annual domestic use of propane is vastly more than I use in my motorhome and even buying 2,500 litres a year I have to pay 78p a litre. It would take me 50 years of motorhome use to buy that much.

I don't understand that, they only bought the Morrison stations recently, they need LPG so how can they not have buying power?
The only part of MFG buying auto gas propane is Morrisons and the amounts needed for their road use and a few motorhomes is next to nothing compared to the much bigger domestic and industrial requirements. When the propane distribution network is stretched in winter they always sacrifice the road fuel before letting their important customers down. Flogas are even honest enough to admit this openly as a reason why forecourts sometimes run out. It just isn’t that important to them.

I agree. It was a right PIA this summer in the UK (four months). There was literally one working LPG pump in the entire country of Cornwall when we were on the move (August I think) and on the route back home from Devon over 370 miles my quick search brought up two LPG possibilities on stations north bound that didnt require me to leave the motorway and one of those was out of order. I hope its better in Europe next year as its looking like its days are numbered here.
