Yes, I occasionally remember to look them up. Many of mine were long before the electronic register was created.

My previous van was traded in and immediately sold by the dealer. That buyer kept it for three years. It was sold again at the end of last year, and is now taxed and probably on the road again.

We always hope to see it out and about , but haven't yet.

This is an interesting one to me,

Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material

how can they tell its corroded, if its covered in grease or other material ?

I did look up our old VW t'other year, I sold it with a few known faults and needing some welding near suspension mounts, it had a few MOT passes and then the same problem came up which needed welding, I guess the buyer patched it up with a bit of filler which eventually got found.

Cars eh ...
My first a Mini.
My favourite an MG B Roadster.
A nice Alpha Romeo.
A Jag XJ6 very comfortable but only 16 mpg.
An almost new Jag X-type had to sell when we went "motorhome only" although 9 years old only 40K miles so a bargain @ £1300
Full leather cruise control etc !

i did sell my Dodge 1 1/2 decker to my daughter ,who needed it more than me , i heard she'd passed it on when the diff went in Spain . about a year later i was on my Suzuki trail bike in the middle of nowhere in the south of the country and came across it on a dirt track with a family living in it , smoke coming out the flue . i was well pleased !
i sold my Bedford single decker to a Swedish woman as a non-runner ,and she shipped it to Sweden and moved into it with husband and 2 kids
i sold a Merc 308 i'd converted and run in to the ground in Portugal for 8 years ,to a mate for 300 euros. it was a real rusty wreck from many scratchy encounters with prickly pears . he took great delight in sending regular updates - just back from Maroc ,2000 k, - just leaving Germany 1500k - back in Maroc after a spin in Spain 1200 k etc .don't know what he was doing ,but i 'm glad i did the change of ownership properly !

Y'know if we still had the cars and bike we had in our youth we would probably be millionaires by now (if we sold them)
1st 1938 Morris 8, 2nd Jowet Bradford van (bought for £8 and sold for £15) 3rd a coach built convertible Reliant, alloy body on wooden frame and a rag top, 4th went modern with a Armstrong Sidley, 5th a Hilman something followed by 6th an Isseta bubble car. It seems that in the early 60s you could have a different car every week for just a few quid and I had quite a few that I've not listed, but who had a licence or insurance or even tax? And bikes, anything from 10/- up or a fight. Oh those halcyon days of our misspent youth

I checked my last car. X-type Jag.
Bought it almost new in 2002
Sold in 2013 a bargain @ £1250!
Now off the road failed mot in summer of 2018 !

I tend to keep vehicles a long time. I’ll sadly be selling my 400/4 soon as I realise my mobility will never be up to riding it again. I got it new in 1975. I‘m keeping my 2cv that I’ve had for over 30 years and passed another mot last week, as did the Xantia I’ve had for 20 years. I sold my 10 year old Mondeo to my brother 10 years ago and it’s still going strong with a recent mot.
