Looking to the past

I tend to keep vehicles a long time. I’ll sadly be selling my 400/4 soon as I realise my mobility will never be up to riding it again. I got it new in 1975. I‘m keeping my 2cv that I’ve had for over 30 years and passed another mot last week, as did the Xantia I’ve had for 20 years. I sold my 10 year old Mondeo to my brother 10 years ago and it’s still going strong with a recent mot.
Like it, had my Daihutsu 4trak since 2001, & my Honda Nighthawk since 1991. Both are on the list for restoration this or next year if funds allow...
Also still got my grandads old Honda cd175, went with him to buy it brand new in 1971.
He wanted a blue CB350, but due to the dealer having not much in stock, he ended up buying a red CD175 instead....

ive only had ..t had older cars.......each one always gave me at least 5/6 yrs apart from one.........favorites were mg midget....nissan prairie,,,,,suzuki ignis........zephyr 6.
cars of today...dont do a thing for me........they all seem to look like big overgrown frogs...........why they make cars so big ..bulky.. and ugly ..i dont know.......total waste of metal etc...and other materials............

I remember my mates dad running round with 3 manxs nortons on a trailer trying to sell them for £40 each, could hardly get rid of them for mths on end.
I still know to this day a concrete yard with about 5 Gold stars under it, no one wanted them by the early seventies.

A magnificent morris E in gleaming black being sold by my neighb our in London for £25 was too dear for me!!! great was my sadness

Only a few of my old cars are still on the road ) checked with MoT history site)
My 1978 VW camper which I sold in 2000 is still going strong. A few years ago, I checked the registration number on a Range Rover I sold in about 1996. I bought it a year old in 1991. It already had a non age related ref plate. First time I checked it, the plate was on an Austin Maestro! Then a Land Rover Defender, now, it appears it’s on a Mini!
This was us getting on or off the ferry to France. And yes, unfortunately, there is a caravan on the back………
