LEZ zones (specifically Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead)

Bristol

That last link to the motability site probably has the most relevant extract, see below.
(I've underlined the bit that applies to Blue Badge holders, as opposed to Motability Scheme vehicles as I'm assuming they are two different scenarios?)

Disabled Tax Class exemption

Vehicles registered with a disabled tax class (such as all Motability Scheme vehicles) are automatically exempt from paying any Clean Air Zone charges. However, this does not automatically include Blue Badge holders who may be required to pay the daily charge if their vehicle does not meet the emissions standard and they are not eligible for an exemption.

You can find out more about your Motability Scheme vehicle’s tax here. It’s also worth noting that the London ULEZ exemption for disabled tax class vehicles is only valid until 24 October 2027.

Yes, but I feel it is morally wrong, yes you might be able to go in to town on a bus or train with some disabilities, but many would not.

I'm still waiting for Glasgow LEZ 'Help' Desk [Misnomer and a half] to reply after 3 weeks and 2 emails, asking whether Motorhomes will be exempt, since Euro 5 engines emit fewer emissions than 1967 Fairground ERF Lorries, Historic Vehicles, 2 stroke motorbikes etc, but Glasgow City Council is paralysed by apathy and incompetence. Just don't know why they bothered setting up an email enquiry service if no bugger can be bothered to reply ...

Seems the problem arises where you are disabled and have a Blue Badge, but you aren't eligible for the "Motability Scheme" which gives you access to a motability vehicle (which I'm assuming is listed as a "disability vehicle" up front on the DVLA website, and therefore no need to actively inform the various local authorities whose CAZ/ULEZ zones you might be wanting to drive through?).

The exemptions are noted by vehicle type, so I see where your frustration is coming from, Kev. It is definitely discriminatory and limiting, but don't know how they could get round it using the current systems available to them?

Every other public service is currently falling apart, unfortunately I doubt that they'll rush to sort this particular problem out in a hurry. 🤷‍♀️

(Who? Me?? Cynical?!!! Naaah... :p:ROFLMAO::cool: )

Scotland managed it though, I'm registered to go anywhere for 36 months, it took a few minutes so there is a way, they just need to look at how they do it and copy it and I don't mind doing the legwork (although I shouldn't have to) if there was a way to do it but I've not found a way in yet.

Yeah, but that's Scotland, innit? 🤷‍♀️

Our current lot couldn't organise the proverbial, the useless bankers... 😜🤣🤣🤣
