Taken from Gas It`s website, surprised they haven`t taken it down View attachment 71204
I got caught out with them a few years back.
I have also wondered if it is correct to add VAT on to the Postal charge. They all do it, so maybe it is required. It seems unfair though.
Thos is why so many people use amazon. Next day delivery on loads of things. No additional delivery charge on many items (assume its in the price) and great returns and complaints system. Others need to walk up..
There is no such thing as free P&P. If it isn't added to the order, it is hidden in the product price.
However, when I wanted something from leisure shop direct, their high postage charges led me to buy elsewhere.
Thanks for that pearl of wisdom. Any more from the encyclopedia of the bleeding obvious you would like to share?
A bit touchy I think. Another pearl.
What annoyed me about Gas It was that they sell the exact same items on Ebay for exactly the same price as their website but with FREE P&P .
When i queried this they said it was a particular promotion they were doing for a short period however the same items were still there months later with FREE P&P.
I haven`t bought anything off them since and will not again unless there is absolutely no alternative.

It's amazing how many people think "free P&P" means they don't pay postage!
So what is a better deal to those who think location is irrelevant ....
A) £15 item with free p&p
B) £11 item with £3.99 p&p per item
C) £12 item with £4.99 flat rate? (Maybe higher rate due to cost of getting to post office?)
Well the answer is "it depends", but it sure ain't option A, but all these people who demand free P&P will only ever choose A)
And THAT is why I sell products both ways on eBay, but most people just choose the Free P&P option. And we are both happy![]()
One of the reasons Free Postage is very common on eBay is that Sellers using that method can get a better deal from eBay with [slightly] reduced charges.Which is why on ebay I use the sort which includes postage which does show up the pricey included postage. Mind you most sellers know that to and in general included postage is competitive
I fully agree with the above.Invoicing was always a bone of contention in our service departments. Many customers didnt like consumables showing on invoicing eg paper mats seat covers, a squirt of duck oil , coplaslip etc etc as a garage we never needed to pay for it (sarcasm) so why charge it on even at cost heaven forbid mention the dirty word profit to help keep the doors open
In the end on the volume stuff we just absorbed the cost within the labour rate saved many arguments.
Pricing on slower moving parts was also an emotive issue, On the basis we couldnt sotck everything or if we did the money tied up we would need to pass on, stock was ordered when we needed it, But the rub is and seen as a rip off is alot depended on our that stock was ordered and that determined what we needed to charge or discount
If we ordered VOR ( vehicle off road) the margin was a lot lower than ordering on a normal stock run so that dictated sometimes what we quoted to do a job.
Reducing costs and efficiency seems more important than ever in a service department , sometimes the simple things like loading ramps the night before before everyone disappeared home
Retail however you do it seems a fickle subject to consumers

I have bought a number of items from this company over the years but I will be looking elsewhere from now on due to their dubious postal charges.
I ordered a new Gas Burner assembly and a new nozzle (their word for a Gas Jet). They were ordered at the same time and should arrive in the same package. The Gas Jet is tiny and weighs a few Grams at most. They have charged me separate postage on both items, including £2.99 for the Gas Jet. When I queried this charge they have told me it is based upon the cost (£18.45) of the Gas Jet. They made no apology for this ripoff charge and it still stands.
So, if you are browsing for spare parts, bear this extra cost in mind when dealing with them.
