Hi
Is it possible to charge a leisure battery from a domestic socket (i.e. from the house) or is there something special about charging points at campsites?
Thanks.
Helzie
That's good news.
Apart from a multi stage charger, do I need a special cable? I presume I'll need an adaptor since the cable that comes with the van won't fit house sockets?
Thanks.
You need an adapter like this............Caravan Hook Up Adaptor 240V 3 Pin Plug to 16amp Female Blue Socket Fly Lead | eBay
If you use this to connect to the van then you will be using the onboard motorhome charger to charge the leisure battery,I assume you have one fitted?
Yes it is,ideally you need a multi stage charger that will revert to a float charge when the leisure battery is full.
Campsites have electric hook ups, which will charge the leisure battery through an on board charger in the motorhome. There's nothing special about them, some have different ratings eg 16 Amps which simply means that is the current they will provide before tripping out.
