Leaving van on EHU for 6 weeks

My 2002 Hymer has an EBL99, I have always left it on EHU and it has never damaged the batteries, it charges the engine battery as well.
When I first bought it we kept it at a storage facility and over a four year period I had to replace the batteries twice because they had been left to go flat, since then it has been left on charge at home and I am on my second set of batteries in sixteen years, personally I wouldn't worry about it being left on EHU

All of last winter we were parked up on permenant EHU and our non smart charger would drop to a fraction of an amp when LB's were about fully charged. It doesn't seem to have bothered the batteries at all.

it is the effect of having the battery sitting at a high charge voltage which is not that good an idea. the current is not that important.
So true but remember when driving they are charging at 14.4, though a lot of current is being used for other things, lights are one.

Well ... just how long are you driving for? 4 hours at a push I would say - and if you have a B2B it will drop to a float when charged as well

Old school alt here, 4 hrs are about max here these days, yep as you said a few posts back put a timer in line, I would for sure.

We invested on a portable solar panel before our now fixed one. Best money we ever spent, got us out of trouble several times with batteries etc.
Got 100w of solar on the roof, but the van is in permanent shade on the north side of the house. At this time of year don't think that will be enough with the parasitic drain from the radio, ecu and alarm.
