Just why would anybody?

Around my area are some great wee spots to camp and fish but no wonder the locals are getting upset. This is a great wee fishing comunity who give visitor a great time, even hand out fish, crab and eye ,lobsters anaw if you are at the piers getting water when the boats come in. times are hard enough just now and messing up anywhere is getting all folks down all over Brittin

Whether dumping rubbish or cassette it is a no no. If I see anyone doing such I'd film them and report them without any hesitation, but let's just say that actions speak louder than words. Live and let live by all means but some things are just not morally acceptable, like such a dirty practice.

Don’t judge me. A long time ago I was on my way home from work with a truck I had four or five wooden pallets on the back needed it empty for the following mornings pick up so decided to fly tip them in a lay-by on a back rd In the middle of nowhere Just got the last one of when this set of headlights came on . Two coppers in a car parked in a dark corner came over read me the riot act. I offered to pick them up and be on my way with a fine but they had other ideas they did not fine Me but made me pick every single bit or rubbish from that lay-by even the fag ends while they sat with headlights and heater on pointing to every scrap of paper it started snowing half way through took about an hour and a half I left with full truck an old settee a broken tv and loads of crap. Lesson well learned

Well if they ever bothered to think how it would be if nobody ever cleaned up after them well what a stinky messy rat infested place we would be living in! They are fair game for comeuppance in my book!

i once picked up a dead badger in my car , thinking of skinning it and making a nice rug . but my god it honked ! not only was it a smelly old boar ,it was well dead . i dropped it off at a bus stop where it stayed for months ,disgusting the poor travellers .

Went to the motorhome show last weekend looked out of side window and there was a woman squatting in front of her caravan toilets were not that far away either- she could of at least gone in the field behind at least she would of been out of sight

know the layby, it's a well known lochside party spot for low life Buckfasters.
better policing could easily have nabbed this scum.
they'd have been there all night making plenty of noise.
best to avoid any layby right by the loch,
I always use the Duck Bay Marina location,
or the big layby on the left just past Luss,
never had any problems there.
Just read Duck Bay has parking restrictions for overnight :(

I think there have been problems round Loch Lomond for a while. Probably made worse this year. Trouble is its easily accessible from Glasgow for the Buckfast brigade.

the parking lots at the marina have no overnight,
but if you keep driving along the old Luss road there's plenty of
unrestricted parking right at the edge of the loch
with great views.

They have the right idea in Thailand. Look at the size of the fines and jail terms.

Yup, good idea. Can't see similar happening here though.

The UK approach seems to be usually along the lines of preventing access instead, rather than putting money into proper resources to catch and deal properly with rubbish offenders (of all sorts, not just tent campers and motorhomes).

Personally I think it would be a good way to give a bit of help with the economy and the environment at the same time.

a) would create some much needed new jobs
b) should (initially) partially pay for itself with big fines
c) the countryside would end up being a lot cleaner

Pulled into a lovely wild spot right beside Loch Lomond to find this mess!

Looks like camping rubbish including nappies, maybe a weeks worth from a group? The thing is that just a short distance down the road either way are villages with rubbish bins!
We moved along and found another much less stinky spot! I wonder what other dissapointments we will discover on our Scotland trip?
Sitting in our motorhome this morning at New England Bay , we saw a fisherman ,his wife and young daughter depart after spending the night sleeping in their car and small tent.
They left behind their tent, cigarette butts and dirty tissues.
No doubt the motorhome and van community will get the blame.
We had talked to him yesterday and he said he lived about 30 miles away, so a local...not a tourist.

Probably too late now, but a photograph with your explanation of events sent to the local newspaper might have been a good move.
