That is the theory at least, the only thing guaranteed is if it does give you even wear on all tyres it will also give you a large bill when they need changing, We've always done ours as and when they need changing.

No need to shot blast just remove clean/derust and a suitable colour hammerite (or similar) and repeat every 2 years.
It will also keep the mechanism from seizing up.
You might even do tyre rotation once a year

Hammerite, if that was mentioned in the anticorrosive trade you would be shot at dawn, rust preventers are no good, shotblast every time to get to white steel.

A lot of machinery manufacturers used to paint everything in blue or green Hammerite, and there's nothing wrong with it, but the metal has to be clean not rusty

Correct, what it meens is just 2 tyres at front to buy, then fit them new ones to the back, so 2 more to by when the half worn ones go down.
Also tyres settle into each wheel suspension, so swapping around unsettles them, the old thing of changing is from ww2, forget it.

the Fiesta had been on rotated tyres, I had to buy three at one time last year, for some reason the third one never got changed but is about due now, but it's van insurance next week then the car next month, money a bit tight right now.

No name yet, Ruth - funnily enough we have never named any of our vans, but maybe this one....?

It's got to be over the Channel and probably Portugal this next winter. Got a lot of lost time to make up for....!!

Not sure how many packets of ginger biscuits the old girl will have stashing room for though (@Pauljenny) ... maybe a crumb or two? Depends how well he manages to maintain his smug filter this year!
