Is Scotland>Ireland>France a viable trip.

Have you looked at Newhaven Dieppe?
If you book one way it is expensive but if you book a return it is cheap. Then take into account the old farts discount it is even cheaper still, plus you are saving about Ā£30 worth of diesel instead of going from Calais. We use it whenever we can although we don't like the 4hr crossing but because we can stop overnight at the port it is as well as cheaper convenient too.

Only ever book one way and it's usually cheaper than Dover?
Is there a huge price drop for getting a return?

Doesn't go anywhere near Scotland or Ireland though.

When I made a mistake and looked at booking a return (Newhaven Dieppe) it was roughly about Ā£50 cheaper. Then take into account the 20% discount if you are over 60, you have to ring up to book to get this discount then you are saving about Ā£30 in fuel by not travelling from Calais then it comes out a lot cheaper.

I just tried to look at prices and got page not found Tony.
Kev,

The one link takes you to an address commencing "cftest", so I was a bit dubious, but it does seem to have some up-to-date info. May be a case of emailing or phoning (details on websites).

I use this route everytime, if I am going to France/Spain. I am not aware that a return is cheaper. Not saying someone hasn't found that so when they looked, but I do not think it is usually so. Would be pleased to be corrected.

We'll have to wait and see what the booking pages say, but if the costs work we'll go that way.

I tried to put in a trip around Ireland but you can only add so many stops, I'll do it in Autoroute next.

I did a bit of messing with routes yesterday, nothing written in stone as we go where the wind blows, we want to go for more in Switzerland and afew places we didn't manage to get to due to other places we did need to go such as Normandy etc, only 5k miles.

Switzerland is fab Kev especially around the Jungfrau valley and the lakes. Expensive though. Not many Aires last time we went but its a decade ago. Never did any wilding although I think its possible.

We didn't stay on any aires there I don't think, I'll see if my timeline shows anything.

Just looking at the route above it doesn't show Cork to Roscoff which is what I put in.
