Just picked up on the closed thread and was slightly bemused by it. Surely the whole point of this group is to discuss wild camping issues, irrespective of people's religion, sexual orientation or past history. When I've been to meets I've found owning a motorhome is a great leveller, like other hobbies and have managed to find something in common with most people I've spoken to without bringing sex, religion, or prying into people's past.

If people have specific interests they usually find each other anyway....Baa :)
 
It's a thread I stayed well away from. It could have been titled 'will somebody light my stick of Dynamite'.

The outcome was certain and a few members got bruised egos and a few more got some things off their chest. The OP is leaving 'retired hurt' in Cricket parlance. If he could not see it coming then he must be new to forums.

Oh well.
 
John, my dear, we all post irrelevant topics, you also do, you have recently shared some of your most personal moments of your life, please don't condemn others for doing the same.

I have to say I find it sad that Admin feel the need to cave to the demands/complaints of an ignorant and bigotted few.

Its 2013 people....catch up! I've posted roughly 27 threads about leisure batteries and you all still have the patience, good humour and graces to respond to them/me kindly and without judgement, so surely this poor chap deserves the same?

Nobodys bothered about ladies only meets, just dont mention a lesbians only meet. Not all ladies are lesbians, much to some mens dissapointment. :lol-049:

Unfortunately the thread went almost straight off-topic - and it was pretty offensive to boot, particularly to the originator.

I am surprised it was allowed to go on as long as it did.

I know I am old and grumpy and have not been a member that long, but as you have to subscribe to be a full member, I do not expect to see a post referring to male genetalia and frankly a lot of the posts were best left unwritten as they had little to do with the general subject wild camping. Most on this Forum seek knowledge and advice on matters to do with wild camping, caravans, motorhomes etc etc which is why I joined and enjoy contributing to conversations.

I suspect the vast majority on members who pay money to this Forum were appalled by the thread and felt it had little or nothing to do with why we decided to join. A repeat performance may well cause some to look elsewhere for a safe haven for our views and advice.

The title of the thread was a bit of a giveaway ;)

In terms of information and content on this site, I would hazard a guess that threads on technical stuff and all other sensible matters relating to general wildcamping considerably outweigh threads like that particular one :)
 
Anyway, Bushtrekker's a bit of a naughty boy :)

He's been a member long enough to realise he should have considered starting this particular thread in off topic, eh John? ;) :hammer: :)

im not comin out of the closet................ ive found next years christmas present im stayin here till ive broke it
