Ireland visit - yay!

I haven't used a credit card for well over over 40 years, Bill :)

Debit card (with the same current account held nearly 50 years! ), cash or PayPal only ... 🤷‍♀️
The same applies to debit cards Marie, they are linked to credit card providers.
If going for Euros don’t use your debit card, use cash, you may be charged 3% if you use your card.
And the same applies when using it abroad, always use the local currency.

It is worth getting an app bank debit card they don't necessarily want you to change from your current account....think Chase bank is recommended by Martin Lewis as gives good cashback too for first twelve months

I use a Halifax Clarity card, or Barclaycard Advantage. Both allow purchases abroad at almost the commercial rate and are paid by direct Debit.
If I take cash out on the Clarity, if I pay it in by 5pm the next day, there's no extra charges.
Today, I got, the maximum daily withdrawal limit of £500 at a rate of 1.208€ per £.
I'll transfer that across from my UK account, while wifey is working on my breakfast.
Not bad for a simple, elderly Tyke.

Get with it kid,
It's 2025, you know...🥰🥰
