Hi my wellhouse leisure converted transit custom is now 2yrs old with 21,750 miles on the clock and just had my insurance renewal from the camping caravan club brokers £411.04 no claims and last year's premium was £377 so phoned asking why and if they could better the offer, and they could only reduce my excess from £400 to £200 so I spent the next 3 to 4 hours trawling the net for quotes, and was shocked at some of the prices quoted ,the worst been from saga just over £1200. first call to ABI £648 the nearest I could get to my quote was over £500.for the self same cover, restricted mileage of 10,000 to 15,000 now one company 2gether was £338 but only 3,000 miles needless to say I bit the bullet and renewed with the camping and caravan club the reasons given for the high prices quoted were the cost of the van to insure and the high mileage wanted .surely that sort of mileage isn't excessive as I have a car and two motorbikes its not my only form of transport and these low mileage quotes are stupid as a trip from my home to France and back would easily eat half of the mileage set in that one trip .i think this insurance is a con how can they justify such a raging price band from one broker to another.any thoughts on the matter is it age related? or what
