INSURANCE ASVICE NEEDED URGENTLY PLEASE

I don`t see how you can make a company cover something they say they do not cover, it`s their company and they set the rules.

Would you do something you did not want to do just because someone else says they think you should ?

I'd second Comfort. I am not with them now but in earlier days I kept our MH on two separate farms and they covered it no problem

Carol try Saga. I go for the different ones each year if need be but they did garantee the price paid was for the next 3 years. My van is on its first year so happy with that but my car is on the last year and will need renewing in May. I don't know what the new price will be till I get the quote but its nice to know it stays the same for 3 years. At the time of doing them they was also my cheapest quotes. But I had my house insurance with them too on a yearly basis and that ran out this month. The new quote was £36 more than last year and they would not budge on bringing it down. So I went to LV and got the same insurance for over £100 cheaper. Good luck.
.... Tom ....

When motorhome was parked on road LV Ins covered me but was £200 more than now it’s on my own property. This was through Comfort Ins.

We have found them to be good
My mistake.

So sorry, I meant the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

I have found them to be unimaginably bad (cancelling my policy for no reason, without telling me, when they knew I was away on a trip) and also charging £70 extra charges on top of the premium. I got the same policy from the same insurance company through a different broker for £70 less.

I think the Camping Club are probably OK

The CAMC refused to quote me once because the young child who`d answered the customer services phone said i`d had a " performance enhancing modification " fitted and they did not insure those sort of vehicles and they needed a specialist company.

He`d no idea what it was and claimed he`d never heard of it so i asked him if i could speak to his mummy or daddy because they would know.

The call didn`t last very long after that and i put the phone down on the little poppet.

The performance enchancing modificatron in question was ...................................... Air Suspension or Air Assist Suspension for those of a pedantic nature.

Any mod must be disclosed to the ins co, if by chance there is a crash and you vh is inspected the ins will be null & void, their way of wriggling out of paying up, happened to a chap I knew with a m bike, he had changed the ex and seat which the after crash inspection found out.

I fully understand that Trev and that`s why i mentioned it but the young boy clearly did not understand and didn`t see the funny side of when i asked if the go faster stripes, low profiles on big fat alloys and big bore exhaust and dump valve needed to be stated as well

None of the other insurance companies i rang round to get quotes from were bothered about it and most found it funny what had happened :ROFLMAO:

A ins co once refused me because they ask had I any other veh that I owned, after running all my bikes of which some were basket cases & not insured, totally daft.

Hi all, sorry for the late update - I know Gordon, it’s really irritating when someone comes on asking for urgent advice then disappears! I’d set aside a day to do some research and phone calls but as I’d just crossed over the border into Portugal I didn’t realise that there was a really poor signal and no internet where I’d parked … So, I phoned back my original provider as my neighbour had agreed to let me park on her drive which should have given me more options. Long story short, I managed to get £100 ish off the quote. Needless to say I’ll be shopping around early next year!
Thanks again everyone for all the advice. Btw, I remembered afterwards that Gordon had posted AIB info with a phone number so I could have phoned them! Anyway, I was relieved to get it sorted!
