Importing dad's old camper from Germany to U.K.

Once you get rid of a G Wagen, you'll always want another one, even that Pierre White bloke does.

I've always liked the look of them, but we have loads around here, huge wheels, skinny tyres and blacked out windows, not keen on those at all.

The land rover 90 is to narrow for my comfort with the drivers window up. Is the g wagon wide on the inside or just flared arches as it's not a go to van for me ?

I would definitely have a G-Wagen if I could afford it.

I believe a few years back they started a short production of them again for some Arab Prince or other?

Traditional G Wagen are narrow by modern standards, but there is plenty of elbow room with drivers window up.

The've been in constant production since 1979, making it Mercedes longest produced model (even if Mercedes don't make them  ) But a Puch badged G is a rare sight.
There was a short run of right hand drive vehicles when the Australian army ordered a load of them. They'll be some nice trucks for camper conversions when they get rid of them, especially the 6x6.
Apart from that, G Wagen have all been LHD since late 90's, early 00's.

That's all changed with the new model in 2018, 463 2nd generation which is huge compared to original G and available RHD.
The original G is still made I think, but only for military, UN, etc.

Yes, wider than a LR and you don’t bang your head every time you get in .My first was a 84’ LWB 460 with 5 cylinder engine and 4 speed box, did 50mph,anything more was too noisy to tolerate and I loved it so much more than the newer ones and it would run happily on cooking oil, I was hungry all the time wanting a bag of chips.
