Import Duties for a bonnet catch.

True, iwent from crysler to toyota selling parts, very seldom did anything go wrong and in 6/7 years only sold 3 engines which were for hi ace vans which were round the clock 3/4 times, all other bits sold were for crash damage.
When the bike industry went down the tubes I told folk the cars would be next if they did not get there act together.

I am no expert on this Truckman. I can only report what I was sent and posted on post #3. But if what you state is correct, (and I dont doubt you are) then either Roller Team, or catterick Caravans are open to claims of fraud. Also is it not possible that they have also added an admin fee due to the increased admin, but have used the wrong terminology calling it import duties.

I also posted this, and it seemed to indicate that anything costing more than £39 may be subject to duty. My parts would have cost £54.

According to the UK government website: “Most goods arriving in the UK are liable to any or all of the following taxes: Customs Duty, Excise Duty and Import VAT”. If you are sending a gift from Germany to the UK, import VAT typically only applies to goods where the value is over £39, or the equivalent in Euros.22 Feb 2021

There are still bargains to be had from the EU.

A friend of mine had some stone blocks for a new wall delivered from France last week. She paid £3000. Had she ordered them from the UK they would have been £9000.

Mind you, I remember when my Dad bought a new Renault 4 - think it might have been pre UK joining the EU?

He did all his research beforehand, then had it shipped directly over from France. No t'internet, obviously.
The price saving was phenomenal, way cheaper than if bought from a dealer in the UK and - if I remember rightly - not too difficult to do either.

So your £54.00 part should have no customs duty just import VAT @ 20%

Marie the two parts had never been welded together. The U shaped locking part was simply hammered through the two holes on the plate. If they had even hammered the ends it would have held. But now they are welded together thanks to the garage. Bye the way the guy in the garage was really helpful. He stopped what he was doing took the two parts away and came back 5 minutes later with them welded together. Then he would not take any money. I had to leave him £10 on a table and make my exit. He saved me £109 and weeks of waiting for the parts. All I had to do was bolt the parts back on to the bonnet when I got back. I have a bottle of whisky in the cupboard, I intend to take it to him soon.
