I wish I knew how this stuff worked. As time goes on the worse it seems to get. 30 years ago autoroute was wonderful and gave you many route options. Even if you were walking. The moment Microsoft got it, it all went down hill.
After much deliberation I purchased a snooper. Once I figured it out it was good and I liked stopping in people’s gardens when I was only interested in the destination. The dammed thing kept turning itself off and became more and more unwilling to start again.
So after a trip to Italy navigating by phone a new satnav was purchased. This garmin is more pleasant to use, but has next to none of the features I was used to.
So I keep reading about tweaks and additions people do, but am lost on how to do it. Or even should I?
If I wanted to look at the area, depending if it’s possible I use google earth.
So how can these things improve my experience?

Give the new app a try, it's a massive Improvement with quick links to street view and the ability to asses the pois, as well as easy route planning.

For those that want offline mapping, they can use maps.me with our KML files.
Hi Phil, if we can rely on kml files offline for a long time I have no issue at all. A system of Pasting the app data onto maps.me that is as simple as the previous updates sounds good. That would be best of both worlds, I like quick street view access too.
I just quite like a backup in remote places. I plan ahead but things do change. Even if I cannot see street view offline I still have what we have had, even in parts of the Lakes and Scottish highlands where we know you can drive a long way to get a signal. Maybe in the future all Europe will have signal.

Can KML files be converted to csv files to import into Garmin and Pocket Earth for offline use? And if so how (on mac for Garmin and iPhone for pocket Earth)?

Yes,

I use this website when I convert the kml files for the sat nav zip download.

Thank you and Well done excellent app. I am happy to go with the majority on this, but it would have been nice to be able to use it off line when out in the wilds.

If the KML files are still available then these can be used with other mapping/sat Nav for offline mapping anyway 👍

Space on many phones is limited, data is cheap and available over most of Europe, Streetview any day.

Street view is very useful for me, the chance to look at a POI to decide if it is ok is better than driving 30 miles to find it isn't suitable is important, I will convert the kml files for my tom tom though, I would be lost without it
