How sad !

I suppose if someone has a physically demanding job then there's some justification for paying someone else to
wash their van, or if they say have a debilitating medical condition. But I know plenty of people with sedentary
jobs paying (very well off bods around Saffron Walden) for just about anything that would otherwise utilise their own calories, and then grumble about being overweight/unfit. They even pay for gym membership then don't turn up after the first visit, because it suddenly dawns on them that physical effort on their part is required!
Are you reading this?...... just a message to one of my brothers!

It's a good idea to keep solar panels clean on the roof as it makes a lot of difference to power kw they produce. Mind you, that's John's domain, not mine. If we are away for a few weeks he will give the MH a clean if there's a convient place to do it

Not in my experience. Seems to make very little difference indeed. The cooling effect of cold water makes more difference than removing the dirt, but they heat up again in s few minutes.

Gawd, i`m doing that wrong as well  20+ years motorhoming, you`d think i`d have the hang of it by now :scared:

No, us quite probably.:D

Ours is desperate for a wash, especially the roof.I havn't the stamina, and my man who does, can't at the moment. I took an executive decision to use and enjoy it, and pray for a good shower.☔☔☔

exactly SUE... good for you, thats what it is there for ..to be used as often as you can...and a means of leisure, fun ,enjoyment......

if the van is gleaming and shiny as a new pin......brilliant...probably got the time circumstances and where with all to keep it that way

if a van needs a spit and polish...brilliant....probably not got the time circumstances and where with all to keep it gleaming all the time.

if someone chooses to to clean their van on site...i see nothing untowards about it......circumstances may dictate that the cannot or dont wish to do it at their place of residence etc....

the probably wish to do it at leisure, where the have space, time, and no other distractions and probably find it quite relaxing.......good for them i say........and they are probably getting a lot of pleasure from it...and also keeping busy...

we all have different ways of doing things and different priorities.....................sorry keep loosing the letter y

The 1" of mud you had covering your solar panels must have reduced the power output, I imagine you just neglected to mention that?

whilst yer up a spepladder with a mop tis difficult for the other half to try and engage you in conversation.

I don't wash mine before getting on the ferry because there is less chance of people squeezing past a dirty van but as soon as I can after arriving in France I wash it, I have never paid anyone to wash my vehicles but I use a foaming lance on a power washer which makes it easier for me, the Polish hand wash which is local do a good cheap job on my neighbours cars but he is working so I understand him using them but I worry about the strength of the chemicals they use

You're spot on Jenny. After a few months roaming around in Portugal, I checked readings before and after cleaning and there was a definite improvement. Takes only minutes to do and costs nothing.

I tend to think the ones washing their vehicles while on holiday, getting the bugs off the windscreen and headlights is just common sense, might just be frustrated Caravan owners.

Taking the Motorhome means no more humping water to and from the tap in an aqua-roll or bucket or plastic container, waste water dropped off every week instead of multiple trips to the waste water outlet, no more digging about in that small box thingy on the front of the caravan that seems obligatory when on site, the fresh water tank only wants filling every week or so and the deep rooted Caravanner finds life is not as active as previous holiday times and they need something to fill the gaps.

Cleaning seems to be the answer.

A decent walk on the beach or over the hills, a walk into town to see the local landmarks, a cycle ride to discover views of the surrounding area, people watching or just marvelling at life around where you are staying seems not to be the answer to their frustrations.

As I sit back and watch them sweat and strain as they clean their vehicles I look at my own once clean, but now shabby Motorhome, and I admire the effort they waste in the goal to become cleaner than clean and a proud owner of the shiniest Motorhome.

Hells bells – I may admire them at that moment but I have no wish to join them in their toil.

I do enough work during the year without going away to add some more to my workload and if someone wishes to do the cleaning then let them get on with it.

Work? I could watch it for many a long hour.

Perhaps the Motorhome washers amongst us would like one of these for their birthday or Christmas -

naughty

I`ve just tried that website and was confronted by a very pretty young girl nearly choking on a very big black ................................... :scared:

Now then....MR WOO.....that's very naughty, how could you possibly degrade yourself in this way....it's a family friendly site and no need for such smut. Maja

Must admit I'm a bit of a keep the van clean man. It's my main hobby using and marring with the van. I actually enjoy washing it (just like others enjoy gardening which I hate) and find it a quite relaxing.
