Sat chilling on a CS site in Cumbria, sun blazing down.
Believe it or not some saddo with a Swift Bolero is hosing and washing his motorhome !
He even has a small set of step ladders and an extending brush so it must be a regular pass time for him when away on HOLIDAY.

Careful now LOL 😂 I would imagine quite a few on here wash their van along the way....I wash the bugs 🐜 off the front occasionally so it's less of a mare when back home. Maja

What`s wrong with keeping your expensive toy nice and clean

might be the onl.. time he gets to do it.//// letter after x is refusing to work.....

and probabl..enjo..ing it too..... good on him... to each his own.....

I agree its sad, but a common sight none the less - I have even seen owners giving the M/h the white glove treatment before setting off from a site!

I am shortly heading off for a 2 month trip, the old girl will be a right mess when I get home (the M/h will be a mess too)

I have also on occasions washed the bugs off the front but the chap in question washed the entire vehicle.

I'd say each to their own. I either do it myself or very occasionally use a professional valeter for my vehicles. Most places use destructive chemicals for a quicker job, and swirl is inevitable without great care. Most people regularly change their vehicles but I keep mine for many years and take great care to keep them in good condition. When away in my van I regularly clean it.

I use this lot Autofoam Car Valet Centre Dalkeith, Car Washing Edinburgh, Foam Wash Penicuik at around 12 quid a pop, hardly worth my own time and effort, plus they do a better job!!

Same here with my pvc and my car.
Full car valet including a polish for £17.00. I get it done once a month, not worth the hassle at their prices and they do a first class job.
I get my pvc washed occasionally and just drop it off with them whilst I go shopping and have a coffee. I actually watch them from the cafe window, I'm chilling as they flog on lol. Worth the £12.00 imho.

I wouldn't want anyone other than me going near anything of mine with a pressure washer. They force water where water isn't meant to go. Doing far to much damage. I see a lot of them used in the car washes are over 200bar/ 3000psi. That doesn't do anything any good when they get they get the lance too close.

I've seen tyres burst by pressure washers. I don't think the average Polish polisher will care too much where is shoves his lance. :scared:

My motorhome cost a lot of hard earned money, it was not handed to me on a plate or funded by a monstrous final salary pension etc etc.

I was brought up to value and respect what i have so that means looking after it to the best of my ability.

I like mine done properly so i do it myself :hammer: that includes all the areas you can`t see and not just a bit of spit and polish on the easy to reach places.

The frontage gets cleaned every night ( whilst away ) to remove the bugs / flies etc. that have adhered themselves to it.

Windscreen, bonnet, bumper, overcab, lights and number plate are kept clean with plain water and a cloth, if done regular it only takes a couple of minutes.

The rest of the motorhome gets wiped down as necessary and a very easy way to do it is to use the morning dew and a chamois.

That way i can clean the whole van in under 15 minutes.

You get all the usual sarcastic / clever / smartarse comments from the good for nothing layabouts that can`t be arsed to clean their own vans.

You can do mine next pal .......... i hear regular to which i answer .......... not a problem mate but i`m fekking expensive

They normally don`t say anything more after that.

It was on my list of jobs to do but we encounter a massive thunderstorm in France on the way home so haven't bothered :lol-053:

I am on the road for maybe four months at at time. And I like to keep the 'van clean.

It's a major investment and as with the mechanical side of things I believe maintenance is important.

I often wipe the 'van down after rain or a heavy dew using old towels, but when required I get the small step ladder out and the extending brush and wash it.

I'm glad to know I'm not alone :D

PS I try to avoid driving in the rain. That way the 'van stays cleaner for longer, and the underside rarely gets wet. That can only be a good thing.

No, us quite probably.:D

Ours is desperate for a wash, especially the roof.I havn't the stamina, and my man who does, can't at the moment. I took an executive decision to use and enjoy it, and pray for a good shower.☔☔☔

Roof cleaning ?

....is there a business opportunity here....Maja's roof cleaning dot com.....:(

I cant comment on washing my van lol

but a good thing about a clean, it gives you a chance to have a survey and keep an eye on things.. good point made about not being able to do it anywhere else!

would I wash mine on site, no way ;)

however, I would tinker with it.
