How can you receive TV in the MH by wifi?

I must confess my lack of knowledge of the FireStik as I’ve been so used to the ease of plug and play Sky box. Is there an idiots guide I should look at so I can see what to do?
Start here and learn how to set it up, then you need to learn how to use it for your needs, I use IPTV for my sports and films but ITV, BBC, CH4, CH5, Netflix, and Prime TV are available to stream, ask questions after you have it installed.
I have an old 1st generation firestick with remote that you are welcome to if you want to practice before buying a new one, I can rest it to factory default then install the above apps for if you want it FOC

If you have a Sky subscription you can use the Sky Go app as mentioned before but that app isn't available for the Firestick and as far as I'm aware it can't even be sideloaded.

Del

thanks Tezza, let me have a good read up and see where I want to go. I know that the new TV is well specced and should accommodate it easily. But can I accommodate new tech is another matter. :(

Worth remembering that unless you already have a contract for loads of data you will be paying for any TV watched through wifi or cast whereas a Satellite tuned to freesat is completely free for hundreds of uk and foreign channels. Also works at least halfway down France.
Completely free after the £2000 initial cost, I’d choose a £40 firestick

A free one to try is better than spending £40+ and then finding new tech not for you, if you don't get on with it you can put it back on here for someone else to try, no problem for me it is just sat in a drawer:ROFLMAO:

I use a Samsung android mobile phone and connect it to the TV with a USB-C to HDMI lead. In France and Spain it is imperative to purchase and use a local SIM card with plenty of data and a VPN linked to a U.K. server.

Live streaming does use a lot of data maybe 1 to 2GB per hour depending on what is being watched through the various apps available. Fast action sport uses more than a slow moving drama.

We prefer to watch downloaded stuff as some apps allow you to lower the quality of the download which on a smaller 19” TV isn’t really that noticeable. The only live stuff we might watch is sport or something like The Apprentice when it can be difficult to avoid reading spoilers in downloaded newspapers the following morning.

We do have plenty of stuff downloaded for times when mobile phone signals are poor or slow.

You can’t charge the phone and use the TV lead connection at the same time as phones do only have the one USB -C port. So we do keep some downloads on an iPad using the phone as an hotspot and watch these if the phone is low on power and needs charging.

Just still only radio. open van curtains for better picture.
Telly still in box ! only keep it in box for fire pit kindle. The box itself. If i watched telly I've go home.

Not that I would endorse this method myself. No way Jose. I'd never do anything like this. But... If you know someone who can programme a fire stick with the codes to get any channel, including Sky Movies, Sky Sport, Netflix, Prime, Disney+ etc, then ask them to set you up. There is usually a cash fee involved. Then plug that into the telly in your van and stream the internet signal, (EE, Vodaphone, Three), and away you go. Like I say it's illegal and this message in no way is intended to suggest, advise or demonstrate, such an act exists, or you should do it. But I've heard, from a bloke in the pub, I've never met before or since, that this works like a dream, anywhere in The UK or Europe, in a motorhome, or caravan, or even in your own homes. Just take the stick with you when you move from one to t'other. Buying the fire stick from Amazon is very easy and if you did get the codes from a very naughty person, you could do it very easily yourself, with very little internet savvy. Apparently! Say no more! Catch my drift governor? It's only what I've heard m'lud! ;)

I've met several people in several pubs who I've never met before who knew people who might have been tempted by this if they'd ever heard about it.

And yes, apparently it might work a treat. What a shame it's not legal.

I bet your PM inbox is full. 🤣

I've no idea why they'd be contacting me Barry! But I'm more than happy to chat to fellow motorhomes about the weather, price of diesel and other non-tv reception details all day. I'd certainly stress the need to purchase a current TV licence. 😇😇

There’s even a website for it, ‘firesticktricks’ will guide you through the jailbreak and install ‘kodi’ which is a service to side load all the things you might want to watch particularly movies, remember to use a vpn as it’s legal to jailbreak your own device but illegal to stream content in the unlikely event of being caught by the owners of said content.if you get hooked subscribe to ‘troypoint’ and master the dark art of illegal streaming, welcome to the dark side ;)

I'm sure a bloke in the pub just the other night was thinking of telling me about all that.

Mind you, if he had I would have had to tell him that I'm tied into Sky for the next 2 months at the ridiculous fee of 96 quid a month!
