How about a small heads up for the coming winter powercuts .

Is solar worth while in winter ? Or even in summer , is a power wall a good idea using off peak cheap lekky at night to top up battery and power the house in high rate peak times . I have no idea of installation and power wall cost . Any comments on heat pumps , looked to me if you want massive fuel bills and a cold house gp for a heat pump .
It's a large and complex issue, the only way you will know what's right in your circumstance is from a trusted advisor (not someone just out to sell you a system).
A few examples, next door has a heat pump, works really well for them, they fitted another for their swimming pool. A few doors down the landlord fitted heat pump, it was totally unsuitable for the house, when it started playing up was ripped out and replaced by oil.
A friend has Solar, powerwall, and Tesla, he was advised against heat pump in his property, the powerwall was mainly for reliability as he was getting several power cuts per year, he was talking to nabour and mentioned about them not having any power cuts since he fitted it, the nabour said "yes we have", well it has a system which logs all sorts of data, when he checked there had been power cuts but the auto change over is so quick he didn't realise.

I have 25 ton of beech split and stacked, and enough beech that was dead and split that will last all next season.
I do like Beech. It burns a wee bit dirty but good heat and lasts well. I’ve got enough dry split oak to last the winter. There’s still a good amount of Beech, Birch and oak lying on the ground.

Ok having logs to burn but that don't keep corry/Emmerdale on the box running.
