So my combi boiler seems fine on mains electric but nothing happening on gas except the control knob flashing red, I know there is a ‘slow burn’ fuse on the boiler but can this be the problem if it works ok on mains? ,it’s the older ‘2 knob’ type of controls. The gas is on at the distributor and it powers fridge/cooker so gas is available, regards, rog
If you can see the led on the control card the # of flashes will give the fault code. When you say nothing happening except flashing red is it selected on the control for gas and not elec and does it make any attempt at going through the start sequence.
Make sure your flue is not blocked, also if you have a window above the flue make sure it’s closed properly, it should have a switch fitted. If you have a multimeter check the switch for continuity.
Never heard of a "CombbiE boiler" and neither has Mr Google.
Do you have make / model / year? Photos will also be useful.
The fuse for EHU heating will be a high amp 230v fuse, the fuse for gas will be a low amp 12v fuse for the control circuits so well worth checking.
While you are at it check all fuses, people have a habit of modifying things.
The gas is on at the "distributor".
Do you mean the regulator or the matrix ? Check it is on at the matrix.
Has anything changed since it last worked? (service or someone borrowing the van)
Does the control knob flash red immediately or is there a delay of a couple of seconds.
It’s the one on the left that flashes, not immediately about 3/5 seconds, no it doesn’t run through the start up sequence as far as I remember it used to pop a bit then whir into action, thanks so far
Truma gas heater run a fan for the purge cycle for unburnt gas, then you should hear the valve/s clunk open, then a click, none of them are audible unless you're very close to the unit..
Usual cause of fridge not working is one of four things
a) The spark isn't working.
b) The pilot isn't igniting
c) The pilot isn't heating the thermocouple.
d) Thermocouple is sending signal to open the main gas supply.
Please answer my earlier questions so we eliminate some on these.

I think that’s what i used to hear but it’s not doing that any longer, I have a Sargent EC328 but it doesn’t have a fuse for the heater, I’ve removed the cover on the boiler and there is only 1 fuse in there ,it’s not easy but here’s a photo as it’s facing the other way
Hi, thanks for response, there is only 1 fuse which the manual says is a ‘slow start’ 10 amp as pictured, this may be the culprit but it’s a special fuse and a bugger to reach, no one has used it since it last worked correctly, gas tank is under slung and there is a distribution valve under sink and boiler has its own feed from this ,I “guess” it’s some kind of pizza starter but there is just silence when I choose gas on the dial, it’s not going to cause me a big problem as we can make sure we have ‘hook up’ wherever we stop on the way home so I can get it looked at when we get back, I just hoped it was something as simple as a fuse but he-ho not to worry, thanks for all the replies .
Just a quick update, it’s stopped working on mains power now too ,same flashing red light so I guess it’s waiting till I get home and have it looked at, the real bummer is a few weeks back there were a few new circuit boards on an auction site I visit and I could have bought one for £20 !
The Truma boiler (gas) heats water in your caravan without the need for electricity. The gas/electric version reduces heating time. Find out more about the Truma gas water heater.
Very rare (and dangerous!) to have a circuit without a fuse.
You need to test every fuse in the EC328. People have been know to piggy back from a fuse.
also worth while having a hunt around for other fuses (often in line fuse) and if you find any make a note of where they are
The photo shows a 230v "slow blow" fuse, readily available

Pretty sure it’s a 4E, tried the ‘re-set’ to no avail but while I was under the bed I found a small fan heater I’d forgotten about so at least we can stay warm, thanks again for all your efforts

Looks like the set up we had on our caravan. The red light then shut down after a few seconds was when I hadn't removed the external cowl cover .... This was a common oversight at the start of the 'Heating Season' ...

It would point to a power selection issue. Either control switch possibly which are linked together with a short data cable and then another long data cable down to the boiler. I have had to change my long data cable in the past. They are just chea RJ45 cables if needed. Dont buy expexive Truma cables
