Have your pipes froze?

As I've found with one of the loco's I look after, sometimes straight draining down doesn't work, I now take a couple of pipe off.

And it's not just copper, to give an idea of how much damage water freezing can do, a couple of years back was looking at an old tubular steel frame which had been left outside, in a several areas it had swollen up (started as rectangular box section) and a couple of the tubes had split, and that was 2.5mm thick steel.

A similar example how ice can damage concrete if there is a crack or gap in it, the same idea as it causes pot holes in the roads.

Another big thank you to Daveh55 !

Took all the equipment we've had through the post from Alf down to Dave's place this evening along with broken boiler.

Half an hour later we get a call from Dave to say it's all done & ready to pick up ! :D

Neil says he will fit it back into the camper for me tomorrow morning.

Alf: hope your hands are starting to heal a bit.
No getting out of it now - address for cake-sending please! xx :D

PS. I'm finally off in the camper tomorrow for the first time this year. Yay!
So if anyone spots a scruffy little old Autosleeper heading south on the A1/M1 through Durham & Yorkshire it could be me.
Give us a wave...!

Boiler going back in just now..... :)
