Has anybody fitted an air-conditioning unit to their van/motorhome?

Hot water will freeze quicker than cold, so when you fill your ice trays...

The Mpemba effect. Not fully understood and only works in some cases.

One possible explanation is that some of the hot water evaporates and you end up freezing a lower mass.

For now, my recommendation is to fill the tray with cold water and try not to think about it.

I remember 'discussing' this once with Wintonian (RIP) and he dismissed it as ridiculous and made a comment like 'Is it April Fools day'. I managed to prove that there was some truth in this to which he replied 'How very strange'

That's about as near to an apology you ever got from David! :ROFLMAO:

As I said "Try not to think about it."

There’s probably been a a few container loads arriving from China and being sold by eBay because there lots of post about them appearing.

Some of the advertising claims are nonsense for example, claiming cooling output of 12,000 BTU in reality they are a lot less. There is a video on YouTube of one being installed in a Mustang the guy make some stupid assumptions initially that the installation doesn’t draw any power, later in the video he replaces his alternator with a larger capacity one.

It seems to work okay in his car, but it is a very small space he’s cooling down.
The draw of the compressor blower and condenser thrermo fan is probably 75-80A.
The condenser is probably sized for use in moving air.
Not sure these systems would do a great deal in a large mobile greenhouse!
