Grr inverter stopped

The problem I'd say is more Electrician than specifically auto or motorhome electrician, so more chance of finding someone.

Thank you all … so I’ve a work around with an extension cable inside from the inverter to my table. Just means my kitchen gadgets have to go on the table. I haven’t the tools or the skills to check what is going on between the inverter and the 220 system. And I might break a nail! It doesn’t sound like a repair a novice could do. If you hadn’t guessed from this … I’m female! Lol

About to head into Georgia. No repairers there but found a hire company who may have a contact who could look at it. Otherwise, it will have to wait until I bring the MH to the UK.

I have no idea of how different people will attempt to sort this, but I very much doubt it will need any carpentry work (I am picturing some guy with chainsaw or axe saying he just needs to expose the cable to test it ).
I'd make sure whoever looks at it is 'sympathetic' to the motorhome and is not just solely focussed to getting the inverter output active again with no regard to the van! It is surprising how often that happens

I'd guess if they didn't use a chainsaw to fit it they'll probably be okay

You may need an endoscope attached to a phone to follow the cable where it disappears.

Sorry, I know that doesn't help you at the moment, but when you get back you can pick one up for very little money, they can be very useful in a van.

You'll have a 240v consumer unit in the van somewhere, it'll probably be close to the EHU inlet socket and look similar to this.

Check and make sure all of the switch levers are UP.

Yes, first thing I did was reset and check all switches were up.

A MH hire and build company is booked for Sunday. He will reseal a roof light and fix the hole in our shower tray. He will have a look at the electrics. And the non functioning heating. I’ll let you know how we get on. And thank you again.

Hello from Turkey.

The inverter has been working just fine. All of a sudden no power to the sockets. The system is set up so that it thinks it is on EHU whenever the inverter is switched on.

The inverter switches on so it can’t be a fuse. The readings on the top are:
Output 50.0 Hz. 228.6v
Battery 13.2v
Load 0
The battery icon shows full
Not sure what the lightbulb denotes as tbh haven’t taken any notice of it before.

When it stopped working, I was just charging 2 and a speaker so hardly a big draw.

I can’t tell you what brand without breaking into the cabinetry. It’s a 3000w and about 3-4 years old.

Any ideas of what we can do to check the fault or do you think it’s fried?

Could be the priority switch, or it vould have been overloaded, we had same problem with ours NDS inverter, ours also still switched on but would not switch to sockets when turned on, happened in Italy on our way to Turkey couple year back,

What is it about Turkey and automatic transfer switches! Must be some sort of Bermuda Triangle type situation.

Ah but Georgia FIXED IT.
Lovely chap disassembled the inverter box. And reassembled around the socket. Now it works.
Strange as I’d used that inverter socket to run the EHU cable to the external connection point to rule the 220 system out. However, it now works!!!

So happy days!

Well, sort of happy. But not delirious. Still no heating (Alde wet) and broken shower drain had just been blocked off as a temporary fix. Just worried water will go down the remaining shower drain and back up the disconnecting drain pipe work.

And if anyone needs repairs done in Turkey, I cant recommend Ada Caravans in Ankara enough. They organised body work, air bag repair, sourced a cog for the step, cleared sink drains and loads of other bits in 3 days for an excellent (low) price. The body work quote alone was more in the UK.
