Generator Rant

Go to a race circuit expect noise. Go to one in Europe especially big meets like GPs and Wskb and expect more even noise. has been my experiance. Without doubt the worst one was the A1 Ring in Austria Wskb. BIkes were brough purely to bounce them off the limiter untill the engines exploded. Then the guns were got out when they had run out of bikes. That was a night of chaos. 🤣

Done a few race circuits in the past in UK and France. Worse one for noise I found was British 500GP at Donnington. Much more rowdy behaviour with drunken bike rides through tents at night. The Paul Ricard or Le Mans had rowdy bits but generally camping parts were better than UK tracks. That was 80's and 90's though so could be different now.

Chaining a genny to someone else's vehicle I have never seen though unless it was someone else in your group.

I remember the drunken Bikers at Donnington in the 80's Neil.

Living just down the road at Kegworth at the time and the village was rammed with them. The landlord at my local had to have doormen so that the pub didn't get overwhelmed and locals were given priority.

I remember the pi55 circle having got caught in the storm once. Not very pleasant when sober but good fun when your pi55ed.

Once on a very large aire in France we needed our gennie running to use the microwave for tea and SWMBO to use the hairdrier.
I parked on the opposite side of the aire and must have been a good 50 - 60 yards away from anyone then set the gennie up on full view at the side of us to warn people.
15 minutes or so into it another Brit came onto the aire and parked right at the side of us a couple of yards away.
He got out marched over and barked ..... how long are you running that fekking thing for pal ?
With an attitude like that PAL, all fekking night PAL and if you couldn't see the fekking bright red Honda on full view then you should be driving PAL .......i answered.
He got back in his motorhome, blasted his horn, gave me the finger and drove off.

Sorry but is that not the epitome of "entitlement"?

You CHOSE to use the microwave for tea: was there no alternative?
SWMBO CHOSE to use a hairdryer: would failure to do so result in premature death (for her, not you ;))?

OK, you mitigated the situation by being on the far side, but you don't control where others might want to stay.
Some people might NEED to run a gennie for medical devices but surely we should be allowing those who want to participate in our hobby the right to do so without unnecessary disturbance?

I understand that if you have a small Leisure battery and little solar that when stationary for a few days you may want to use a generator, but putting it behind my van and running it while you wonder off for the day is just taking the p##s tbh.

Then chaining and locking it to my rear carrier is really taking the p##s, needless to say I’ve turned it off and left a “polite note” 😡

Rant over
You didn't fancy a drive to the shop then. We don't have sugar so that's out. Pull spark lead off
