Full timing in this new lockdown

If you are full timing and don’t have a permanent home somewhere then Just stay safe and do your best with the lockdown rules. I really feel for anyone out living in a motorhome right now it’s hard enough in winter without all the added crap that Covid brings as Annie said try and find a place that’s as permanent as possible until they lift travel restrictions. If you were stopped in the process of moving from A to B and explained your position I don't think you would get into trouble but that would all depend on the police having a heart and a bit of common sense. But I wouldn’t go crossing borders between countries if possible.
 
There was someone fulltiming in a selfbuild during the first lockdown who sometimes parked at the Country Park where we walk the dogs. I was hoping that nobody would misunderstand their circumstances and shop them. I think they managed OK but I have not seen them since then.
 
I've been fulltiming for the past 13 years...... this is my first UK winter.....very fortunate to have been parked up on a friends driveway since early April with EHU
& good wifi. He wont let me pay for either..... so his grandkids got a little something extra for Xmas ;-)
I've read that many C&CC certified sites are open here in Scotland, might be worth trying to work out a deal. most folk would welcome some extra cash
right about now. expect many of the C&MC CS's will be the same.........anyone doing that????

Thanks you all for the replies. I have no intention of going to other countries i.e Scotland as I think the reception would be mainly hostile thanks to President Nicola the little wee hen. I still have Hospital appointments for my cancer and I know I can travel legit for those but I am not far from the lakes and the coast so I was hoping to travel to those areas and as I am considered homeless/ no fixed abode the Govt website states that the restrictions do not apply. I am hoping the Bobbies see it this way. If I keep myself to myself then I am staying at "home".

FWIW, Project Amber and other YouTubers had some hard times during the first lockdown and were threatened with violence in Scotland even though they'd found a quiet spot about ten miles from the nearest village, had two months-worth of tinned food and 'battened down the hatches' for 'the duration'. They ended up driving south to a friendly farmer's field until some other nimbys shopped the farmer for having an 'illegal caravan site'.

AFAICT, the rules don't consider travellers. That said, your van is your home. You are not allowed to leave your home except for very specific reasons. However, I can't find anything in the rules that say your home isn't allowed to move. Pragmatically, it shouldn't matter provided you stay inside the van and don't allow anyone else in as that is probably as effective at preventing spread of the virus as people not going outside their bricks 'n sticks! ;)
 
You are probably making the right decision staying in England with an attitude like that don’t think even I would make you welcome and I’m not political. It was just a suggestion that crossing borders wasn’t a good idea because we are in a national lock down and would probably draw more attention to yourself. Not an excuse for you to take a cheap pop at our first minister and turning this into a Scottish bashing thread. Good luck in finding a place

Hmmm I didn't think a little humour added would warrant a response such as this however I was in Scotland during the first Lockdown and as my wife and her family are from Maybole in Ayrshire I stayed there, my son is a Scot. I wont repeat the the words I got from the locals who I have known for over 50 years. Thanks Wully for reminding me why I left. God Bless Scotland the Brave.
 
I don’t really know what you were expecting when asking for advice. You were given good honest advice and sympathy you and the poster before you were the ones turning it into something else ok maybe I didn’t see the humerus side. I’m not against you or anyone else travelling in Scotland if it was up to me you could come stay on my drive and we could have a drink together and discuss our predicament. problem is I’m
maybe a bit too patriotic.

Just read through this thread and noticed you mentioned the lakes
During the first lockdown the police were stopping motorhomes etc entering the lakes and moving on anyone they found overnighting.
The chief constable was on my local bbc news during the first lockdown about people ignoring the the government advice / law so take care as they may do the same this time.
 
Driving to get food Medicine etc is OK nd get fuel
SO IMO
Travelling to get water/gas and to dump grey water Toilet household rubbish is similarly essential
As would be travelling to another location if you cannot return to where you are.
A drain outside the council offices might be in order.
Indeed if NO proper dump facilities are available then any open public toilet (but not in a shop).
The council will not house you as you are voluntaririly without accommodation but surely they should help.
As suggested parkup in the council offices carpark if all else fails
I would suggest you do not pay any fines levied..go to court (is that essential travel ?Ha Ha)

Just don't take the p155 (pun intended)

I wasn't trying to turn it into something else Wully. It was genuine advice.
 
Whatever the area the vehicle is registered in is probably where you are expected to be and anyone too far away from that is probably asking for trouble - and it doesn't take the plod long to find that information - with the high probability of water pipes freezing this time of year you really need to try and get a campsite space if possible at least you are safe then even from the areas trouble makers which are everywhere

There is a problem here in that the area the vehicle is registered in might only be administrative with no physical accommodation and, worse, in the middle of a densely populated. For example, someone who uses the services of Mailboxes etc. might have a virtual address of "Unit xyz, 21 High Street, Somewhere" -- an address that doesn't physically exist. The 'full timer' litmus test should be whether the insurance company are aware. There is a massive problem with campsites in that they cost -- some more than the cost of a room at a regional Premier Inn or Travelodge -- and many live the van life for financial reasons that mean they can't afford this. I'm not saying that this applies to the OP -- just that the OP should be entitled to exercise the same 'rights' as their cash-strapped brethren.

Then the rules should, and councils should be forced to make arrangements/help out, especially under the extreme circumstances we are now all living under.

We can argue about this issue until we're all blue in the face, but it needs recognising and addressing one way or another by the authorities.

A little pragmatism and common sense goes a very long way, as long as it is not undermined or scuppered by the selfish nimby/malicious brigade and the little hitlers that inevitably crawl out of the woodwork at the worst possible times.
 
Gypsies have traveller sites which are available at a price i would assume ( we have 1 here ) - but most uk full time motorhomers use the eu to travel and parking is easy with the aires - but 90 day rule will cause lots of problems for them - the only place you can park is scotland and not so sure they will be impressed when lockdown starts reducing and lots of people head to scotland which will almost certainly happen
