Fuel prices wot do u think

wigan pier

Im a truck driver working for a firm who dont have a union delivering to top name stores.

If every truck/van driver went on strike for 5 days the big stores would sort out the prblem with the fuel price with the goverment as they have a stronger hold over goverment all u need to do is stop the wagons from abroad doing our work while were on strike
but since the miners strike the countrys gone soft.

Wot do u think.:)

We all know this but it will never happen - sorry, because the idea is pretty sound

If you are a truck driver I would have thought you would be in T&G/Unite like myself. I can't imagine though any union these days having the balls to do what you say - but it would be interesting if they did.

If the trucks all stopped for 3 days that would do it,,,,but it will never happen,,we all moan about things in this country,,but thats all that ever happens,,,people moan,,they never do anything about it,the problem is we dont stick together !!..the fuel goes up,,we moan,it goes up higher ,,we moan,,England has turned into a country of wimps,,i feel sorry for owner drivers,,there going out of buisiness daily,,,i cant see how you can run a truck with the price of diesel today,,,i parked mine up 10 years ago because it was too hard to make a profit ..

Andy,
I only pay due to my licence being insured. I don't have much faith in unions anymore because nobody is interested and members are often apathetic.

Hi wigan pier.
Note that it is the employees who "have a union" not the company.
Action is the only thing left to the working population in this country to get things improved. Untill it happens our so called leaders will continue to treat us with ever more contempt.

this sort of thing people just sit back and dont want to know well now it affects the whole nation fuel for cars/vans/wagons/gas/electric/food/ almost everything u do is now affected even sex you got to have the energy to do it so were all in the same boat but its like street crime people turn a blind eye
as the good book said we shall overcome BUT WILL WE.

HOW ABOUT A MOTORHOME/CAMPERVAN FUEL PROTEST ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON:cool:

same as i said last week

The last fuel protest In the UK did nothing
Why has it been left to the owner drivers and small transport firms?
Where is the like of EDDIE STOBART and the other big transport firms in the UK
Stobart for example can afford to sponsor all manner of motorsport but can not manage to support his fellow hauliers in his own country.
In fact where were WE the general fuel using public we could have joined in with the truckers?
I thought Ben Scammel of pipeline card was going to try to do something but his ideas seem to have fallen on deaf ears and are still nowhere
We have not heard how the European protests are going may be there is a news black out so we don’t follow there example
When I was caught up in the protests in France firms like Norbert-Dentressangle one of the largest in France were at the forefront of there protests

The large hauliers would never support their fellow hauliers:mad:, they can afford to absorb the extra costs then sit and watch as the smaller hauliers go bust then they can take over their runs and set an inflated price to cover their losses.

Sad but true:mad:

Dear Wild Camping Readers,
Eddie, that's Mr Stobart to you, has asked me to answer your cruel comments on his behalf
He regrets that he cannot answer you directly but he is too busy arranging another marketing opportunity
Eddie hopes that you will like his latest tasteful offering
Yours sincerely

Didn't get the impression the hauliers were bothered with anyone elses problems than their own.
Perhaps I missed them demanding a reduction for all motorists?

I have the feeling that the major haulage companies
in this country, are engaged in "behind the scenes" discussions
with government concerning fuel price concessions for hauliers only.
why else would the largest hauliers be so quiet
If this is so, it could be very bad for the ordinary motorist

I am on strike next Weds / thurs, along with 600.000 other council workers. Because after 10 years of them saying if you are good this year and take a bellow inflation rise, we will make it up to you next year. We have had enough of trying to keep up with the private sector and its time to make a stand. I think wiganpier that you will find Scargill was right when he said Thatcher would butcher the mining industry and thats what she did. Now 25 years later we are in a situation where the best coal in the world, that would fetch top prices, is locked in flooded seams that would cost a fortune to re-open. That women sacrificed the wealth of future generations and the jobs of millions, to appease her pals in the boardrooms of the oil companies. We must stop criticsising fellow workers. The filthy rich in this country are awarding themselves massive rises and bonuses, while telling us to stop being greedy. If you want to pick a fight, pick it with the REAL enemy.:(

Yeah no one sticks together anymore iam in the same boat as tresrikay on strike next week because local council think they can carry on paying us peanuts we need the money we are owed even more now with the cost of living going up.

Mike

Nice one Mike, remember, THE WORKERS UNITED WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED:):):)

A further point is that the Big boys don't make their money from the haulage, they make it from the distribution warehouse:eek:

just found stobarts marketing site selling all sorts of stuf i assume there is a lot of dosh to be made by this
