Mine is low mounted, with, as you say, the vents just at the top and bottom the fridge. Nowhere else for them to go really. It's convenient in case of a problem, I reckon you could just about access the burner, igniter etc. if agile. But agreed, it's the bare minimum.
Globecar fitted what look like quite large vents. The winter ones cost about £35 each, and I couldn't find them in the correct colour (dark grey) hence my DIY experiments. But I think my biggest problem is that the sliding door covers them when it's open, as it usually is during the day, when camped and living outside, only a small gap. Really hot weather, sometimes the sun beating down on that side of the van, not ideal. Just a little forced convection from my fans, tiny current drain, resolved that.
