Fridge advice needed

Exwindsurfer that's a bugger.

I have just ordered a compressor fridge/ freezer from jacksons leisure. It is on a container ship and should be here on 25th feb...
Many thanks for all the input by everyone (y)
It's much appreciated đź‘Ź

I got my Vitrifrigo from Jacksons and it has been excellent.

Sorry to say I am sending a waeco 110 crx fridge back today as it not fit for purpose it only run between 16 and 42 c and is classed as a tropical fridge I was not impressed. Now thinking of using a domestic fridge through my invert seeing I had 400amps of lithium and 600watts of solar.i bought it from Jacksons leasure.
Mines an old one not Crx, Mdc 110, didn’t realise you could still get them badged Waeco as Dometic bought them a few back didn’t they? If/when mine packs up I will go domestic 230v

I was replace my old cr110 waeco as the new one was the same size but unfortunately it wasn't to be and sorry Neil it is badged as a dometric it just didn't want to run in my van.

My old waeco has ran for nearly 10 year Rob with no probs till now. Now I know there is a dometric repair guy near me I'll get him to have a look at it .

I've had mine 6 years Jeff, I just have to watch the settings so it doesn't freeze everything! I suspect that the Vitrifrigo is a rebadged Waeco.

ok, I'll start by saying I know NOTHING about electrics, or anything technical for that matter, but some years back a guy I worked with had a 3 way fridge problem and he removed it and turned it upside down for a few days, re-fitted it and it worked fine, something to do with the coolant settling at the bottom, it obviously won't help your PCB problem but I just thought I'd throw it in there in case others had similar poor cooling.

I think there was some small collaboration but can't recall the details. Vitrifrigo tend to be more respected than Waeco in the marine world, which might suggest more reliable? (harder to get a fix or spars when at sea :) ).

Lec do a 92ltr 12v compressor fridge for I think 530 quid which is way cheaper that the dometric I am sending back at 900quid
May be worth pointing out that LEC don't actually make a 12V Compressor Fridge.
Inlander get the Fridges and replace the compressors on them for 12V versions. The fridge itself is just the same as the domestic 240V fridge and need to make a fixing kit, add a door lock, etc.
the Shoreline 12V Fridges are just the same - standard 240V units with a swapped compressor.

Are you thinking LG not LEC

Just wonder if it worth taking a punt one ?
If you have an decent inverter fitted, I would just use the 240V version.

I run an LEC Fridge/Freezer in my Motorhome and it works great (been in for around 18 months now). Cost around ÂŁ280 for a 140L model.
Personally I don't see the value in paying a few hundred extra to have a 12v version if I can run on 240V with no real difference.
If I didn't have an inverter in place, I would almost certainly buy one just for that purpose.

Inlander and Shorelines main customers are some off-grid buildings, but mainly canal boats where appliances don't need to be bolted down and doors locked. Different picture entirely for a camper.

If anyone interested, I have an Inventor 93L fridge for sale. It is like this version but in Silver - https://amzn.to/40cSG7o.

I used one of these in my Camper and decided to get a second as a backup but never used it, so it is 3 years old but never used except for initial checkout.
My sister was going to use it in her new flat, but it came with a Fridge/Freezer already so didn't need it.

I've been looking at a hotpoint underbentch fridge 134ltr ÂŁ219 quid as I have 400xamps of lithium and renogy 2000 watt invert

Do you switch your invert off on a night and back on in the morning or just leave it running all the time and what sort of amp does it use please ?

I have a Victron Multiplus which is configured when off-grid to run in a standby mode and wakes up when the fridge compressor wants to come on.

This graph shows the kind of on-off pattern (the van was plugged in with charger off until after lunchtime today, so the lower bit looks different to what you would expect off-grid, but the key thing is the gaps between spikes and difference between top and bottom of the spike - around 50W - so 5A or so on a 12V system with overhead, but on average around 2A overall - so say 50Ah per day?
