Found the perfect van for us at last

There isn't much I haven't tried that much is certain. :D

I have a presidential suite in our van. I may invite the current Mrs D into it if she is lucky but ill send her packing at bed time back to her junior suit up front. Being crammed in like sardines and crawling over each other to get to the loo don't sound like the recipe for a good nights sleep to me.
She doesn't come on here does she ?

If you checked into a Hotel and were presented with what Motorhome manufacturers laughingly called a "Double Bed", you would be back to reception double-quick and demand to know why you have been given a single room :)

Been there done that for decades. If I was "not alone" I wouldn't stay anywhere without a bed the size of small football field :D

Ok, YOU fitted a 4'6" bed in a T25.

WHO fitted the 6ft wide bed in your current van?
It's a Globecar van, designed by Possl, part of same group as Hymer, actually built at Defleffs factory. It's called 'twin singles' but is actually one large bed with a small section at foot end (about 18"x18") which most people remove to aid getting into bed, I did fit the complete bed once, but now the removable section lives in the barn at home.

Out of our price range, but we both really like it. If I were still working, I'd try getting finance on, but no chance on SGP.

I has all we need, the beds let it down a little, but we could make that work by having one each :D :D

It'd need to be down plated to 3.5t.

Years ago (possibly around 2007) I was looking at buying one of those but a couple of things put me off.
I don't remember what they were for sure. Might not have been anything to do with the van itself
In the end, I decided to keep looking for the van I really wanted, a Hymer S700, vintage 1998 to 2005. Rarer than hen's teeth, it turned out.
But I did find one. Reader, I bought it.

[Later] Just remembered why I didn't buy the G696. When I had looked at them originally, there was a little back window, as in the 2007 one on ebay.
Then when I went to order one the back window no longer existed, as in the 2005 one listed on ebay.
The salesman told me there was no need for a window because it had a camera. I pointed out that a camera didn't help you look out from your bed.
I guess they must have seen sense by 2007 because the window was put back. But by then they'd lost me as a customer.

right, the 1+1 style. Probably about the only real double bed fitted until you get into the very pricey motorhomes.

We liked the large made up beds once, but after a while, they are just a PITA, and two singles are better for a better night's sleep.

For both of us.

We'd like a rear twin bed setup over decent sized garage, with easy access to get in the beds, cab seats with two armrests, not bothered about swivels, had em, and never used them, cab A/C, full automatic with CC (not ACC), a front lounge, big enough to actually allow two to lounge (as you wouldn't be able to in bed) No Dinette (waste of space) No TV, separate compressor fridge Freezer, LPG stove, a decent sized worktop, not jsut a hob cover and a sink cover, Diesel heating, efficient hab 12v A/C, a roof full of Solar, a battery bank large enough to cope with out otherwise meagre needs.

This would need to be a four berth to get the lounge and the twin beds, as such may go over 3.5t, so although I have seen this layout, it's over that, and I let my licence go, not sure how I might get it back if needed, and how often I would need to jump through hoops to keep it, or how often.

It is a real bitch getting old, being mainly skint all your life and then becoming so disabled so quickly, not to mention, my doctors letting me down by not doing the tests they should have done ten years ago.

But mustn't grumble, I still wake up, and I am 99% of the time in a good mood, just me, wait for Grumpy to emerge and make her a cup of tea, and stand back :) :) keep putting the odd quid on the Lotto, and hope.

I enjoy looking at motorhomes; picking fault with this or that, they have been my life for almost twenty years, and a bear can dream, other holiday types for me are a huge yawn, so not looking forward to the day when I can't do it.

Ooops a bit of a rant, sorry, didn't sleep too well last night.

I enjoy your motorhome analysis threads Kev even if you don't end up buying them. I think you are right though given what you have told us and mentioned before regarding the beds. Twin beds you can get in and out of easier would be better I reckon.

Google says you can get your C1 back by the way even if you have let it lapse. I think it will require a medical though. I would do it if its just a paper exercise and a medical.

Or £50 in a brown envilope under the table. ;)

It's the treadmill test that is the killer for the C1, Barry. At my own pace, I walked some 475 miles over our 12 week Winter Trip to Spain, and for a couple of weeks I covered more than 105,000 steps during this period - 15,000+ steps each day. But on a treadmill with 3 increases in speed, with 2 failing hips and knee joints that are under extra load because of the hip problems, I would just keel over

Aha, there I have them by the dangly bits. I can't do the treadmill test, my heart is fine, I have a car as I can't fecking walk far. Do they need it written down too

Yes surely there is an exemption for those who cannot walk (Disabled) but are otherwise perfectly healthy. I would fail it now no doubt and Im not an old codger like you but I can ride and drive anything with the same well crafted lunacy I have developed over several decades!

there is an injection you can have that stresses your heart etc

I don't need an injection to stress my heart. I am perfectly capable of doing that myself through various differing pursuits. :D
not sure what would happen if I wanted to try and get c1 back, not sure if injection is an option after heart op and no way I could do a treadmill.

I would settle with just being able to drive now though, its going beyond a joke

Not sure if you will find one for sale easily, but if you liked the interior look of that Autotrail Cheyenne 693, but the beds didn't work, here is a variation with twin singles that don't need any ladders

It is the Cheyenne 740S, which has the rear bathroom like my Cheyenne 635, but with a proper bedroom (with hinged door) between the bathroom and the mid kitchen. The lounge seats are short versions to the 693 in your video and in my 635, and too short to swing over to lie on, which could be annoying? (I like to be prone on the lounge seat when watching TV :) )

No real garage though.
