Found a new van one I like at last.

Why? they're more rigid than a A class.
Never had any body rigidity problems on my A class motorhomes and I much prefer driving a vehicle that doesn’t bulge out behind the driver. Why not get the benefit of the wider body along the whole length. Also I think some coach builds look like their having an identity crisis with a caravan stuck on the back of a pick up truck. Mostly a personal preference thing but I also wonder if the rigidity of the cab in a coach built is not matched by the constructed rear section putting a strain on the seal between the two differently built parts.

The coach built body is attached really well I feel, the stick they take on our crappy roads proves it, the whole front section has the back of the cab to fasten too, not sure how the A class is connected but it has no base cab as such I'm sure.

I'd like too see how they are built though.

Yes, would be interesting to see, must be a video out there.
Still, I see no reason why an A class can't be built as rigid as a coach built. I'm not saying they are, BTW. Guess it all comes down to £'s in the end.

I could get the Mobilvetta I bought as an A class or coach built. A class advantage was pull down bed in cab area and the looks posher .
I went for the Coach built, standard van front, 16k cheaper, cheaper insurance, narrower front as It's really tight getting it in manoeuvring into my driveway. A class having the bespoke front end,/windscreen ££££ repair. I also disliked the enormous windscreen driving it.

Here's one that better shows the build process for an A class, the base vehicle stops above the engine bay, they even cut away some of the steel in the pillar area, so no way is it stronger, form over function really.

For strength a van conversion would probably be best.
